Whats up guys? Been awhile since I've been on the couch. I'm trying to decide whether to book my trip through here or just booking a hotel on my own, finding my own tickets, and going on the busride/tailgate through wvupeach.com. The main reason I'm leaning towards booking through wvusportstravel is because you can get a ticket to the game in the WVU section for 50 dollars. Anyone know how good these seats will be?http://www.wvusportstravel.com/football/wvu-at-lsu.php

Eugene Smith, 6A player of the year in Florida, I think he will earn the number 2 spot and get a ton of reps this year.

From rivals.com:
Auburn entered preseason practice with serious depth concerns in the secondary. Those concerns deepened Monday when starting cornerback Aairon Savage was injured during practice.

A junior, Savage landed awkwardly on his leg defending a pass and yelled out in pain. He was immediately surrounded by Auburn's training staff including head trainer Arnold Gambler and team doctor Michael Goodlett.

Savage was expected to start at CB this fall.
After attending to Savage for approximately 8-10 minutes, he was driven off on a cart with his left leg in an air cast.

Head coach Tommy Tuberville said Savage suffered a knee injury but didn't speculate on the severity of it.

"They said he just came down wrong, twisted it a little bit," said Tuberville. "They said he had a little pain down there. You don't want to speculate good or bad."

The potential loss of Savage would leave Auburn with just two veteran corners in juniors Jerraud Powers and Walter McFadden. Sophomore Ryan Williams played in seven games last year but must complete summer school in good standing to remain eligible.

Behind those three are a collection of true freshmen and walk-ons.

"We were going to have to play some young guys anyway," said Tuberville. "We can't afford to lose anybody, especially a guy with that experience."

The injury was tough on Savages' teammates including sophomore Zac Etheridge, who started 12 games beside Savage at safety before Savage moved to corner in the spring.

"It was hard to see a guy like Aairon go down, who worked hard every day and has been bothered by a lot of injuries," said Etheridge.

Savage has started 14 games over the past two seasons totaling 79 tackles and one interception.

Word on the streets is that Aairon Savage, Junior DB for Auburn and a projected starter for the upcoming season was carted off the practice field with an air cast on his leg. No official word on the injury but it's looking like ACL. Thought I'd post this since it does affect us somewhat.

Head Coach Bill Stewart Quotes-Day Three 8.4.2008

On special teams
Pat McAfee punted the ball today better than I have every seen him. Iím
talking about the boom shots that weíve let him do here and there, and
he nailed them today. It was great to see. He hit drivers today!

Scott Kozlowski well punted today as well. Our punters are doing a
tremendous job. Pat is in the zone, and itís really special. Thank God
we have a great trainer here Dave Kerns and a great strength coach in
Mike Joseph, because they have created a sport-specific lifting plan for
those guys and have worked hand-in-hand with those kickers. I donít want
to wear Patís legs out like we did a couple years ago, and I over kicked
him a little bit last year and thatís my fault, but weíre getting
smarter. Thatís nice to see- Iím tickled about that.

On the defense
Sidney Glover made a big time pick, and it was good to see that. Our
freshman back there, Robert Sands, had a couple double whammyís, did
motion and was all over the place making adjustments and that was great
to see. I saw Coach Dunlap, Coach Lockwood and Coach Casteel smiling and
we said, heís coming pretty well. Some kids got Ďití, whatever Ďití is,
and weíre hoping Robert Sands has Ďití.

Big plays from Kent Richardson today, some big hits. He made some open
field tackles on No. 7 (Noel Devine) that nobody makes, and that was
nice to see.

On the offense
I thought Pat (White) had a nice day, and Jarrett (Brown) did some nice
things. Alric Arnett just keeps stepping up and today, Wes Lyons made
some big catches. And the guy we keep talking about, Will Johnson made a
big-time catch down the sideline, down the middle and in the flat. One
time Pat took his read to an Ďxí, and he ran an option route as pretty
as Iíve ever seen, and threw it out to Wes Lyons, who made the catch.
But just to see Will Johnson make that option route was an absolute
thing of beauty and it was very nice.

We missed Ryan Stanchek today. You donít take a warrior out of there; we
had a little break down on the left side. He didnít go today, but he
probably could have gone. We need one more test but weíll see. Iím very
cautious. He might wait until doubles just to make sure. We missed him
today. I can see that and I can sense that.

On the campís schedule
We had a nice lift this morning and we will lift again tomorrow morning
and have another sharp practice in our shells. On Wednesday, I might
shorten the periods a bit in order to just hit and bang. We will be in
full pads on Wednesday and play some Mountaineer football. Weíll start
two-a-days Thursday.

On D.J.. Thomas
He didnít join us today. Weíre waiting on the classes to be recorded and
then we will get him up here.

On the progress of the defense
The defense is way ahead of the offense. Our defense won so many games
last year, because they stepped up to the plate. The defense needs to
carry us early in the season, until we get all of the motion and
movement. Our defense has to carry this football team, and there are
only 42 of them. Weíre thin, because we have good players, but we need
more players because the defensive line hits so hard they might get
hurt.

Brandon Hogan made some fine plays today. Kent Richardson made a big
tackle today. I saw two great open field tackles today and I thought,
Ďwow, thatís specialí.

On the BIG EAST and training schedule
Weíve thrown everything at them the last couple days. On Wednesday,
weíre going to put a hold on all plays and not have any more
installation and just let them go for a couple days and just play and
get it on. The BIG EAST is a black and blue league. BIG EAST Champs last
year were 5-2, co-champs, UConn and West Virginia. Itís a tough league.

On the players who missed spring ball
If you donít have spring ball and try to come to Division I football,
thatís a tough road. I like the plan of throwing everything at them and
then going back and re-teach. Itís nNoel (Devine) to get out there and teach the new guys. Patrick comes up,
and Coley comes up and tries to coach. You learn subject matter better
by teaching. I thought I was a good student but when I became a teacher,
I learned the subject matter much better, so I try to get the older guys
to coach the younger guys.

Linebacker Pat Lazear

On camp so far
Itís all excitement, and it seems like this team is extremely prolific
and that weíre doing big things. Itís really impressive seeing everyone
out there like that.

On preseason talk
It canít be that much of a surprise with our backfield but with the
defense, I think we should surprise people. We lost a lot of guys but a
lot of guys are stepping in.

On Reedís injury
If he is here, Iím happy to take the No. 2 spot and if he canít go then
Iím happy to take the No. 1 spot, but I hope heís here, because he is a
great asset to the team in every way.

On the defense as a whole
Coach Casteel really explains the defense to us so well. Weíre in there
every day, and we all have a good grasp on what he wants. We understand
the defense.

Punter Pat McAfee
On surprise players
I think Will Johnson is going to have a huge year. Everyone saw Bradley
Starks in the spring, and Ellis Lankster is going to be an all-star.
Those three guys are really going have a break-out year.

I want us to win big games. I want to win the BIG EAST first and then
win the big game. I want to do better than last year.

Iím looking forward to the first game, I have to bounce back. Iím
excited about that game. Obviously I have to focus on our first game but
Pitt, this year, is going to be a whole new ball game for me this year.

This summer I was out at kicking camps. I learned out to punt for real
now, and I got better at kicking. Mike Joseph understands that a
kickerís legs need to be fresh to kick. Heís been working on
flexibility with me, explosive drills, and I feel a lot better. Iím
icing for pre-cautionary reasons, not because Iím hurting. Iím working
on my flexibility a lot, and he stretches me out everyday. Heís a great
guy and he knows what heís talking about.

Quarterback Pat White
On Starks and Arnett

Arnett and Sparks bring a deep-ball threat as well as a big-play threat.
I can throw them a short five-yard pass, and they can take it to the
house.

My passing game has come a long way. Iím enjoying everything that Coach
Mullen is teaching me, and Iím soaking it in. He is a young, great mind
with a lot of great ideas. What he brings to the table will help us out
a lot this year.

He is teaching us a lot of technique everyday, and he has a little bit
of a different philosophy. We work a lot on my footwork and the passing
is more sophisticated with more options and more routes. Weíre getting
more people involved.

"Lamar Miller, a 4 star on rivals.com and a 5 sta, 3rd best back on Scout.com, is now favoring the mountaineers over florida, lsu, miami, florida state, tennessee, south florida, rutgers. It has been long believed that Miami was the favorite for lamars work but with miami recently getting a new commitment from 4 star running back Mike James and already landing the number 1 running back Bryce Brown.... they have taken themselves out of the competition for Lamar Miller."

Pulled this from the rivals board and I believe it originally came from the scout board from a uncredible source. But hey, take it for what it's worth.

In practice, Hogan has made the switch to cornerback. Jalloh is now apparently settling in at slot reciever and it sounds like that's where he plans to be the rest of the year. We need all the help we can on the defensive side of the ball but i really liked Hogan at slot.

According to rivals, today in practice, Kent Richardson was making some plays today including a few open field tackles on Noel Devine. Stewart commented on him:

"I've heard people say that hitting a baseball is the most difficult thing to do in sports," Stewart said. "But my good friend Mike Skinner, the long-time football coach at Grafton High School, used to disagree. He says that making a tackle in the open field is the most difficult thing to do. Well, if that's the case, Ken Richardson made a couple of plays on number seven that I've never seen anybody make before. I know that we weren't tackling today, but Kent really chested him up and stopped him in his tracks." (from Rivals.com)

We need a reliable number 1 corner so this is pretty good news.

Who's hating him? He operating within the rules of the system but he's trying to bend the rules. You have 5 years to play 4 years, period.

Levance Fields was tasered by cops for resisting arrest and underage drinking just last summer. No discipline was handed to him besides all the legal stuff. I doubt all of the charges will stick and I think we'll be seeing Joe on the court this winter.

Accept it, and get on with your lives.

Why must we always find something to bitch about?

If we are that good - AND WE ARE BTW - then what the national media thinks of us is irrelevant!!!! Our so-called SOS is in the eye of the beholder.

Get the F--- over it!!! We are going to play them, and until your name is Ed Pastilong, there is no chance that who you want to play or what you think matters!!!

No need for all that now...

Erdsall does deserve some love too. Only been in the big east a few years and got a share of the conference championship last year. I would definitely say Leavitt has done the most impressive job thus far though.
