Rndp21. Nice post....

Let’s face it boys players today are going to transfer....( when things don’t go their way).

I don’t think it is a sign of weakness to take or lose players because of transferring

I honestly feel that we have to be considered one of the top 15 programs in the country.

Teddy Allen gave us a few good moments. That was it, a few. He is like the kid we always let play cause he had a new ball. After his team lost he was never picked again. After stating a dozen times if he can’t play he was taking his ball and going home, we threw it down the road and said BYE

13. West Virginia Mountaineers

West Virginia has finished first or second in defensive turnover rate for the past four seasons, a streak that aligns with the presence of Jevon Carter. Bob Huggins has parted with critical players in the past, but Carter has been the identity of the program over the past four seasons. Still, a West Virginia team constructed around Esa Ahmad, Lamont West and Sagaba Konate (3.2 BPG) can still tussle with the best of the Big 12. The Mountaineers won't easily replace an impactful player like Carter. With their style, however, and the returning talent, they're still a top-tier squad in the Big 12, the best league in the country pound-for-pound last season.

Kansas is the early number one pick.

B+ only because we lost to Kansas 3 times (and blew a lead to Kentucky). We beat Kansas once and Kentucky its a solid A-, and if that win against Kansas was in the Big 12 tourney it would be an A.

ATHLFinal Analysis
While the path to the Final Four for both Villanova and West Virginia isn’t as easy as others in the bracket, both sides are playing extremely well and have a good chance to make it to San Antonio given the firepower they bring to this matchup. Whichever side manages to control the pace will have the upper hand and it would surprise nobody if this is a close, back-and-forth game that comes down to who is making 3-pointers in the final minutes and sealing things off at the charity stripe.

The Wildcats have only lost four times all season and are the better shooting team from the perimeter so they get the edge in this one but it won’t be easy at all against a tough-minded Bob Huggins team. The winner moves on to see either Purdue or Texas Tech and probably will wind up as one of the trendy picks to take home the title down the road as well.

Prediction: Villanova 69, West Virginia 64

SI Prediction Nova by 7

East Region: No. 5 West Virginia vs. No. 1 Villanova

Friday, 7:37 p.m., TBS

West Virginia-Villanova is the most intriguing matchup of the Sweet 16 round, and the battle between Jevon Carter and Jalen Brunson shapes up the best individual matchup of the weekend’s first two days of games. There’s little doubt that the Wildcats can handle the Mountaineers’ press. They rank 11th in the country in turnover rate, and Brunson is one of the most sure-handed point guards in the country. As great as he has been, though, it might be Mikal Bridges who gives the Mountaineers the most trouble. Put simply, it’s hard to see either Wesley Harris or Esa Ahamd as an effective primary defender against the future lottery pick.

West Virginia has one of the best team defenses in the country, but once Villanova gets into its sets, it has the weapons to attack the Mountaineers’ half-court defense. Bob Huggins’s team may make its name on the defensive end of the floor, but realistically, it can’t hope to shut down Villanova’s offense. If West Virginia is going to pull off the upset, Carter will have to once again show why he’s arguably the best two-way guard in the country.

I think Nova will light us up if we go with the 1-3-1 defense. Extended man to man defense to force them to penetrate. This is what WVU played most of the game against Marshall and Murray State, who also shoot very well from the floor. My opinion on winning this one is limiting their 3 point attempts.

Against Marshall I believe we played half court man to man, but that was after dropping back from a 1-2-2 zone. Huggins got out of the full court man to man when their big kid handled the press. He wanted to keep Sags closed to basket.

But I agree with staying away from the 1-3-1 it hurt us all year.

West Virginia nation:

What I hope for is a well played game on our part.

Nothing stupid........don't give the game away.

If they beat us fine. (We will win)

We are battled tested, we are well coached and we were tourney runner-ups in the best conference in basketball.

We have what it takes to win and that is what we should do.

We have proven that we can play with anyone in the country. ANYONE

Good luck and let everyone DO THEIR JOB

Let just get this thing done.

Jevon on Brunson is going to be FUN to watch. I am also interested in the Miles/Harris vs Bridges match up as well. Those two match ups will determine the game. All there guys can score for sure but those two are the ones to worry about. I will take Esa, Miles, and Konate over their other 3 any day. We also have a deeper bench as well and a height advantage

Better coach

Missing the obvious .....game changed when Huggins changed defense.....if our big man had to quard their big man when breaking our press....game a lot closer.

Everyone worried about our heart....oh well
I heard all that bull**** about WV kids on Marshall...not wanted by WVU now you know why they are not in Morgantown

I think heart can win over talent. Those WV kids playing for Marshall, this game to them is the biggest of their lives. I cant count them out. I know what grit and determination can do and it can be scary being on the receiving end of it lol. Should we win? Yes, of course, but no way I can feel confident about beating these guys. Especially when I know we can play offense like we did the first 5-7 minutes of the game yesterday. If we sputter like that I expect Marshall to be ready to knock down some shots. and take this game down to the wire.

You don’t think are kids have heart.

That **** sounds good for Rudy.... but this is not the movies....

Can we lose yes ......will we NO
