I was thinking a series of "why I was wrong" posts would be fun ... particularly since if exclude the 3 turnovers, we played a fairly solid game against a highly regarded team.

I have converted a buddy of mine here in Colorado into a WV nut. He is a football savvy dude, just never followed much college ball before. This is what he said after the developments thus far ... "don't they teach forcing turnovers at WV?" ...

Great game. D did it's job, particularly when having a short field shoved down it's throat. Personally, I think the D gets the game ball.

But we can't keep winning with a negative turnover ratio like today.

Go Eers.

I would prefer to see Geno stay out of the AFC West. Denver isn't looking for a QB and I don't like rooting against WV alums on a consistent basis. Would love to see P.F.M. connecting with Tavon and/or Stedman 15 times a game though!

I've seen a lot of criticism of Holgs in the press and on on this board. I insist on winning as much as the next guy, but this early in the tenure, I think for me, I want to see what he does to fix the problems. If we aren't in a top tier bowl, and contending for the Big 12 title frome there on out, then I will consider the experiment a bust. If a coach can build a dynasty within 4 years of taking power, then I see that as a success. It ain't like pro football. You can't just go out and get a veteran QB, or a top end cover corner in free agency. You have to recruit them, groom them, and then unleash them.

The bowl game doesn't figure into heisman voting. There are so mnay things wrong with the heisman trophy and its meaning that I gave up on caring about it years ago. Maybe right around the time torretta won it ...

HornsUp - the reality is that good ol' Texas boy has not come back. Why? Cuz he is a troll, and has no nads. Many a troll from opponents hit the boards ... the true fans come back after a loss with china and silver in hand, ready to choke down the crow.

Man that's a long ways from the field. Where were your seats? Round Rock? But thanks for the pic ... I spot a little bit of Gold & Blue in there!

You have to admit ... UT fans were in the game start to finish. I was hoping we could shut em' down and shut em' up ... but right up until the V formation after the on-sides kick those fans were rocking it ...

Geno is right now studying the film and picking apart the nuances of the D ... he will be ready. Now we need about 74 more Mountaineers learning from his example!

Honestly ... the Horns better be fearing them some Baylor. Yeah, the d was tougher ... but Baylor's D is tougher than ours, and their offense is very similar ... not as good, but same style and some serious resiliency ... will be an interesting game.

Thanks. I'm headed to the emergency room to get my blood pressure checked. I think Geno needs his checked ... there is no blood in his veins ... just ICE WATER!

While I prefer to win 70 to nothing ... 70 - 63 is better than a loss. I've seen some snoozers in my day, but this was not one of them. More than once my wife said "just get a beer and go outside" ... I thought my head was gonna explode a couple times. Yes ... we need more defense. However, the Baylor offense is no joke, and was possibly the best we've seen in three years. Better than LSU last year. Babtism by fire. You get better by playing better opponents. I learned a lot about the true core of Geno today. Zero mistakes. Same with Bailey, Austin and Woods. These guys are gamers. Coaches need to beat up the D, and make sure we don't have stupid late hits out of bounds against Texas. But Texas can't put up 63 ... maybe 23 ... Let's Gooooo ....

I would put a large sum of money on the following statement ... If we could muster 20% more (better) D ... we sweep the B12 and win the NC ...

I was dissappointed that Ollie was sporting all Colts gear last night. A flying WV or two would have been a sweet plug.

If you are gonna publish an article making fun of dumb, backward, hillbilly folk, you'd think you'd go the extra step and get somebody to proof read the damn thing. I ain't no grammar nazi but humor asside, that is pure garbage.

Just completed our first full year under a coach who essentially recruited none of the starters. Holgerson is going to become one of the great "knowns" in college football over the next three years. I think there will be some growing pains, over the next 2, but once he has built HIS team, I doubt there is a defense in the Big 12 that will slow us down. I firmly believe that Holgerson's mentality, his go for the throat approach will be the difference between what we saw from the previous three HC's.
