This is the hardest team to root for I've ever seen. I really don't like the word choke but goddamn.

UGA has a much better offense than Clemson, and nearly as good a defense. They shut Mayfield down the second half.

We had a QB rating of 7.0

Yes, that decimal point is in the correct place.

Is K State the only program in the Big 12 that teaches fundamentals?

Paraphrasing a friend about music: it's okay to suck, everybody has times were nothing goes right and you suck, just don't ever be lame.

This offensive performance was lame.

Anyone know why Kyle Bosch isn't playing in the bowl game?

I'd assume same as Crawford, to make sure he doesn't get hurt and ends up getting drafted since he definitely has a shot.

I would suspect that Crawford not playing in the bowl would be more a case of academic problems than prep for the draft. There is plenty of time to "prep" for the draft.

I would be interested to see if he graduates or not. Not saying it is important but if he is ineligible this would be a great cover to keep down the embarrasment.

Not sold on his ability to be an NFL back. I hope I am wrong.

Oh I didn't know it was grades, I meant prep as in not get hurt in game play like what happened to Jake Butt, I think Crawford could find a spot somewhere, I rank him a bit higher than Charles Simms as a back, just has a terrible case of fumbling in the goal line, if he can sure his carries up, he's got it down.

I want to make sure that everyone understands that I don't know it is for certain but it makes more sense than "prep" for the draft.

If you are so concerned about being hurt in a college football game why would you bother with the NFL? Do you think he won't be put out in the first exhibition game?

I can understand if you are a QB or even a receiver but a running back had better be able to take it in college. If they can't they won't last in the NFL. They don't last in the NFL anyway.

It just doesn't make sense.

For a back of Crawford ability the difference between a career ending injury in your last college game or your first pro game is probably at least a half million dollars. For other players it could be several times that. Crawford has a wife and two kids.

If not for transfers and juco since Geno our QBs would have been Millard, Childress, Crest and Chuganov.

We wouldn't have had a winning season or a bowl game since the Pinstripe. I don't understand how our recruiting could be this bad.

Holgersen has no excuse. He is the problem. He has the team and coaches that he recruited. He has embarrassed the state of WV. Lyons needs to either make changes to the coaching staff, I.e, fire Spavital, or the administrator needs to fire him. If I were in charge this would be done by 1-1-18. If they lack the resolve to make this happen, I volunteer.

It's not Spavital's fault that Chugs played poorly today. Spavital can only do so much with what he has to work with and apparently he has very little to work with beyond Will Grier.

Holgorsen needs to figure out how to lure quality QB recruits to WVU or he might as well go see if he can find one of RichRod's old playbooks still around somewhere in the facilities and try to recreate the read-option success we had years ago.
*Not saying we should do that - just making the point that if Holgorsen cannot recruit a Big 12 caliber QB to this school then we are in serious trouble.

I have to disagree with this a bit. I went to the TT game this year and Spav's offensive was quite offensive for three and a half quarters. Grier got hot and we got some breaks. In my opinion the offensive regressed this year and Grier, Sills and some others carried it. Three weeks to prep - and this???

I'm not defending Spavital as offensive coordinator - just saying he (or anybody else) isn't going to be able to turn a QB with average talents into a superstar. Geno Smith took some time to get the hang of Holgorsen's offense but he showed signs of great promise early on during his first year in 2010. I haven't seen that same kind of promise from any of the QBs that Holgorsen has recruited out of high school. Again, I'm not familiar with the potential of the kids we have waiting in the wings....I hope we have a QB we can count on.

I'm undecided when it comes to Spavital. Holgorsen might have it half-right....he may be better off serving as Head Coach and not concerning himself with calling the plays but just picked the wrong guy to do it.

Smith showed promise early under Holgorsen, his last game was that Pinstripe Bowl that looked a lot like today.

I'm done. Last game of the year and I can't watch it. Next time rumors start about somebody stealing Holgorsen I'm going to be cheering them on.

I've seen more creative offense on a playground.

More competent for that matter.
