I haven't been able to keep up with camp as closely as I usually do (took the bar exam), so some of this stuff may be old news, but i found several interesting tidbits.

Orlosky looks to be the starting center, and could be that for four years. Nice.

I had totally forgotten about Avery Williams, I was really high on him when he first got to school.

I haven't heard too much about Hyman. Casazza seems pretty high on him and Mike is usually one of the best at that.

I am a WVU alum and Skins fan from DC. I would LOVE to see Pat make this team, and I think he should, but he won't. Rex Grossman is terrible and is a walking turnover. He's been the starter for 2 seasons, during those 2 seasons he produced over FIFTY turnovers. He also obviously can't run the read option stuff that the Skins are so good at with RG3.

Pat's passing may be a work in progress, but defenses have a hell of a time defending the read option with his running ability, he's much younger and cheaper than Rex (the Skins have serious cap issues) and he's led scoring drives in both preseason games. The pick he threw last night really hurt him, the Shanny's really like Rex for some reason, Pat has to SIGNIFICANTLY outplay him to make the team. He's got 2 more games to do that, but it's a very long shot.

I really like Roberts, he has a great story, seemed like a fantastic guy, and was a hell of a recruiter. I think our teams needs a DB coach with more than a handful of years experience though, not someone still learning.

Best of luck to him, whatever he ends up doing (which could be anything).

NCAA rulebook:

http://www.naia.org/fls/27900/1NAIA/r ... SKETR.pdf?DB_OEM_ID=27900

Articles 8 and 9 are what you want. Basically if you leave the bench and don't fight, you get ejected but not suspended. If you leave the bench and fight, you get ejected and suspended.

Pages 99 and 100.

It'll be Childress unless he does something else stupid. He's been in the system long enough to learn it and Millard is too careless with the ball. Rawlins doesnt have enough time in the system yet.

So, they can chant that someone sucks, but cry if someone makes a stupid hand gesture?

No wonder nobody likes Texas.

I think the "recruiting industry" is a several hundred million dollar per year business with several million paying subscribers at any given time.

There are simply far too many HS football player for anyone to rank accurately. Plus, everyone doesnt play everyone else. It is sort of like why WVU is always a huge underdog in BCS games, nobody knows what to expect when we play an elite team out of conference because they can only judge us against who we played.

So the recruiting services cheat. Obviously they can rank highly the kids that physically just look like freaks, like Gwaltney, or more recently, guys like Jedeveon Clowney. Clowney was like 6'4 280 IN HIGH SCHOOL, obviously he's going to be a monster. Some guys that run 4.4's get ranked highly. But for the most part, kids dont stand out greatly. So the recruiting services cheat by simply seeing what schools are interested. If Alabama offered, you get a bump, the services figure if Nick Saban thinks you are good, you must be good. But for the most part, its just a guess.

The other thing is a lot of 18 year olds havent developed physically yet. For instance Chris Neild went from a TE to a 300+ pound monster over the course of his college career. LOTS of guys develop greatly from what they were in HS, but you cannot predict that. Arguably our best defensive player this year is Darwin Cook. He was a 2 star because he was 180 lbs. Now he's over 200 lbs.

Finally, so many kids from a class either drop out, or transfer, or dont make grades, or just wash out for whatever reason that your highly rated recruiting class might just disappear.

For all these reasons, i think closely following recruiting is a waste of time. I still look a little bit, but I dont put much stock in any of it.

Are they bringing the Sooner Schooner? I would love to hijack that thing and ride it down High Street, very intoxicated.

I generally enjoy reading Pat Forde. But yea, no reason to feel bad about such a small decrease in attendance considering.

But i definitely noticed the empty seats in the 2nd half, which really bugs me. Who wouldnt want to stay and see WVU run up the score on Marshall? Shit, last year it took a bolt of lightening within 1/4 mile to get me to leave....during a monsoon.

Its just something interesting to discuss as his senior year progresses. Its not an obsession, its a topic.

In your opinion, what does Geno need to accomplish to be mentioned with those 2 WVU greats? He already has or will soon have all the statistical records. He has a vituoso performance in a gargantuan BCS win.

Individual stats and awards aside, if he wins another BCS game, i will probably put him in that group, and maybe consider him the best of the 3.

Its just a bullshit rumor started by one dummy on a Marshall message board who started the same exact same rumor last year.
