Survived to the round of 8 by defeating Rutgers 0-0 on penalty kicks. The WVU goalie block to Rutgers shots. The winning goal was for WVU was scored by a little-used freshman - gutsy coaching move to put her in at a critical point in the game.

WVU may get 3 home games, then play at #1 Stanford in the 4th round. # 3 seed Penn State in the WVU bracket.

Williams with Maine Red Claws. Macon with Alba of Hungary.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devin_Williams

Devin Williams (born May 31, 1994) is an American professional basketball player for the Maine Red Claws of the NBA G League

After going undrafted in the 2016 NBA draft, Williams joined the Milwaukee Bucks for the 2016 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.[13] In five games for the Bucks, he averaged 2.0 points and 2.4 rebounds in 7.6 minutes per game.[10]
On August 9, 2016, Williams signed with Melbourne United for the 2016–17 NBL season.[14] Williams struggled to make an impact for United off the bench over the first month of the season, which led to speculation of him being released by the club.[15] That was not to be, and on November 6, he had a season-best game with 13 points and seven rebounds in an 82–73 loss to the Illawarra Hawks.[16] His next best game came on December 11, as he had a 6-point, 10-rebound effort in an 88–81 win over the Sydney Kings.[17] In the following game however on December 17, Williams went down with a knee injury early in United's 100–90 loss to the Brisbane Bullets,[18] and was subsequently ruled out for four to six weeks with a Grade 2 medial ligament strain.[19] On January 31, 2017, after fully recovering, Williams was granted a release from his contract to source opportunities to play in the US.[20] On February 14, 2017, he was acquired by the Greensboro Swarm of the NBA Development League.[21]
2017–18 season[edit]
In June 2017, Williams joined the Charlotte Hornets for the 2017 NBA Summer League.[22] On September 26, 2017, he signed with the Boston Celtics for training camp.[23] He was waived by the Celtics on October 5, 2017.[24]

Elijah Macon moves to Hungary and signs with ALBA

By Norma on September 13, 2017

Elijah Macon (205cm, West Virginia University ’17) has joined ALBA. He will make his start as a professional basketball player in Székesfehérvár, Hungary during the 2017/2018 season. The 23-year-old made the decision to leave the Mountaineers uniform and not return for his senior year. The Ohio native progressed in almost every category in the three years of his collegiate career. In 2016/2017 season, he averaged 6.3 ppg, 4.2 rebs, FT 63%, and FG 55%. Throughout the three year span, he managed to log a total of 518 points, 339 rebounds, 65 assists, and 46 blocks. All in all, he played a sum of 103 games, averaged 5 points, FG 52%, and FT 54% throughout his scholastic career. Macon stood as a top-50 player and a top-15 power

Listening to Dana Holgerson after the game, it sounded like he took some control of the play calling. Either way excited he did and we ran the ball alot more. Even though we averaged only 4.1 yards per carry, it makes a huge difference for helping the defense. Can certainly win against KSU, and Texas playing this style. Both will be very tough games though. Just wished we played this way vs. TCU and Virginia Tech too.

I thought we ran too much, with 20-25 passing (and 2 more that should have been completed) and a so-so running game. WVU only scored 20 and was stopped on 8 third downs -- more passing in earlier downs would have avoided third downs.

In the 1st half, the offense was great. in the 2nd half, when IOwa State went to 4-man front, more passing.

I don't understand how WVU gains over 500 yards, is 20-25 in passing, and only scores 20. Something is wrong somewhere. Last year, there were red zone problems. This year, it's not making first downs. In the Iowa State game, WVU was 6 - 14 on 3rd down, better than usual, but that's still 8 drives halted, because that's a lot of third down plays. Here's a chart of how (most of the )drives ended, if someone can come up with a good explanation:

1st drive – 75 yds, tD
2nd – 37 yds, FG. Incomplete pass 3rd and 4.
3. 30 yds, punt. Rushed on 2nd and 9, unable to pass on 3rd and 9.
4. 94 yds, TD
5. 50 yds, FG . Rushed on all 3 downs. Lost yard on 3rd and 5.
6. 64 yards, missed FG. Clock ran out.
2nd half

7. 56 yds, turn over on downs. Incomplete pass, 8 yd pass, rush no gain, rush 1 yard.
8. 8 ds. Rush 1 yd, pass 8 yds, rush -1 yards, punt.
9. 34 yds. Rush 1 yard, 2 incomplete passes (one dropped)
10. 42 yards. Interception in end zone.
11. Ran out clock.

Wow. Feels a bit lucky that we won that.

Iowa State had the most luck. Two very big plays went their way and WVU still won -- missing by 1 inch on 4th down and the interception in the end zone. That last play was another touchdown by itself.

Seems to be free, but seems to be only the content available on WVUsports.com. It lists the upcoming games vs Iowa State and Kansas state, but I don't know if they'll be available over the channel or if there's a charge.

WVU needs a win at Kansas and an OSU non-win at Texas to win the regular season championship. WVU holding up its end -- up 1 - 0 in the 14th minute. Kansas has only about a 500 record, but defeated two top-ten teams at home. In the other game, OSU is dominating early play, but still 0-0. Texas has only lost once on the season, though, with 2 or 3 ties.

Some interesting facts about Big 12 soccer:

WVU leads the conference in goals scored and is tied for first in fewest goals allowed (4 in 8 games). WVU has scored 1 more goal (16 total) than the 2nd place team, but has 6 more assists.

WVU takes a lot more shots than anyone else, 33% more shots than the 2nd place team. Abam has taken almost 50% more shots than the person in 2nd place, but is 2nd in goals scored.

Rylee foster leads the conference in goals against, with 3, but is 10th !!! in the conference in saves per game (because of the skill of the WVU back line and because WVU dominates possession).

WVU is 5th in the conference in attendance. K State is way ahead of everyone else. WVU leads the conference in away attendance – presumably because it’s the best team, and not because there are a lot of WVU fans living at other Big 12 locations.

OSU. They have a better running attack than we do. More difficult to catch passes in the rain.

The Texas punter leads the nation in yards per punt.

interesting statistics:

The Florida QBs have a combined 5 TD passes for the season.

TCU allowed Kansas something like 21 yards of total offense.

That surprised me that Iowa St man handled TTU. I really thought the Raiders would be the better team.

My Tech friend said turnovers had a lot to do with it. Tech fumbled twice inside their own 30. Later in the game, they had cut the margin and threw a pick-6.

Thank God for the 4th quarter. I'd been kicking myself thru most of the game for not betting on WVU.

After Baylor, no more easy Big 12 games. Iowa State, K-State, and Texas all looking tough.

Because Texas averages less than 2 yards per carry.
