Thanks Mounty - I was trying to see how many years WVU averaged in a conference or Independent since 1950... about 16 years. If the Big 12 does not fold, we are good until about 2030! I didn't realize we were in the Big East for 21 years!!! It was a great conference to be in during the Miami and VT days. Too bad the leadership was weak and stupid!

It is not a question of if WVU ends up in another conference... but a question of when. Does anyone out there know the various conferences WVU has been in and how long we stayed for the past 40 years?

Concept came up yesterday on Sirius Radio - If Big 12 doesn't get to 12 there is talk that the Big 12 will fold and this will nicely create 4 Super Conferences of 16. Four conferences would also allow playoffs for the National Championship to be clean and easy.

Announcers were saying this would help create more geographically convenient conferences. They mentioned Bob Huggins and how difficult WVU's travel is in the Big 12...

Announcers were hoping to see Texas and OU go to the Big 10 so they could reunite with Nebraska.... The mid-majors would all but be forgotten and have their own championship...

So if this scenario happens, where would WVU go? Big 10 or ACC?

7 drafted -

Compared to other schools this is a decent number. The recruits may feel that they will get more playing at time at WVU as compared to the 5 Star recruits at an Alabama - There are lots of reasons to commit to WVU & so far Dana for many reasons is holding his own...

West Virginia 2015 NFL Drafted -

WVU fans want Big 12 Titles and Championships - Players want a chance to play on Sunday. I believe Dana is starting to get the reputation by recruits that he can get them to the NFL.

Can someone tell me why both NFL teams don't use the same footballs during a game? In college does each team use their own?

WVisHome, very funny - I didn't even recognize the color connection... I was pointing out WVU is helping out the Big 12's reputation. Also Dana seems to be helping NFL hopefuls get a shot to play on Sundays...

This is the Spring Game. Last year at this time Clint was not even playing - look what he did until he got hurt.... All is still well until proven not.

Crest looked good as a receiver, good as a return man and ok as a quarterback - but all quarterbacks looked just ok.
I think Crest is the best leader - those watching on TV may have seen something differently - but live Crest looks like he has the potential to be great whereas all others look to have the potential to be just good...

I have been following Dontae Angus since ESPN did a small piece on him while he was still in high school in one of the worst public high schools in Philadelphia. He struggled to get through school and struggled to stay in shape - but had size -6'5 318 lbs & heart. Today he played with second team defense - I was impressed with his quickness and he appears to be in great shape - as a redshirt Freshman I think we will be hearing about him.

Not sure where this should go - maybe soapbox....

I usually don't agree with Mitch Vingle, probably because I want him to always pick WVU to win, which he doesn't.... that said - Today the Gazette had two articles on the new $112,000 a year SSAC Executive Director hire. One article was just the facts. The other was an opinion piece by Vingle. He stated that the position was picked even before posting or interviews...guy was part of the good old boys network, a done deal. The hire was from Wheeling. So there is no hope in the High School football championships moving to a more central location or at least moving around the state. The future also looks like there might be a move to have HS basketball playoffs in Wheeling as well.

If the SSAC is all about protecting the "good old boys" and the perks of being on the commission, I hope the truth is uncovered. High School sports regulators should be all about making policies that are best for student athletes, band members and their families. Shame on the SSAC if every action they make doesn't put those that they are paid to serve their number one priority!

Thanks, Mitch. Maybe more truths should be told about the SSAC.

Why would an African-American call a Caucasin-American "a fu..in' Ni--a"??? When I read that Harrison used a racial slur I thought he called him a "fu..in' Cracker"!

If a change comes in quality recruits and winning at Texas I think it may take some time.... I am not sure what went on with Barnes, but as the basketball (as well as football) program started to fold - the other Texas schools starting becoming much more competive for the talent in Texas... (or maybe the competion came first and the demise followed).

Anyway Texas once got the best recruits and I am not so sure Texas A&M, Baylor, TCU, Texas Tech, etc. are going to go back to mediocracy in recruiting any time soon.

Too much pressure to win all the time - I guess that was why I was surprised Barnes was fired just by looking at his record.... I would not want a NCAA head coaching job.

What the ESPN experts keep saying is that Big 12 had more good teams - Big 12 were solid B teams and the other conferences each had 3 or 4 A teams and the rest of their conferences had C & D teams - I think that is accurate. Big 12 had 7 or 8 good teams other conferences had 3 or 4 excellent teams. NCAA tournament mostly had the greats beating the goods...

Unfortunately Texas's did fire Barnes - his accomplishments -

Barnes, 60, went 402-180 during his tenure in Austin. He won three Big 12 regular-season championships and reached the NCAA tournament in each of his first 14 seasons there. Under his direction, Texas reached the Final Four in 2003 and made two other Elite Eight appearances. The Longhorns were ranked No. 1 in the country for the first time in school history during the 2009-10 season.

National players of the year T.J. Ford and Kevin Durant were coached by Barnes at Texas, as was four-time NBA All-Star LaMarcus Aldridge.
