Someone recruited Oliver Luck, Darryl Talley, and pushed for the construction of new Mountaineer Field. And it wasn't Don Nehlen. His son might be a dipstick, but Sr. did a lot of good things for WVU.

I thought that was a very impressive performance. Montana isn't that bad of a team. Their record doesn't show it, 1-3, but I believe they have all their starters back from last year that went to the second round of the tournament. Things I really liked: All the praise of coach B. Several teams were complaining that they didn't have time to get all their offensive plays in because the season started a week early. Didn't look like coach had any problems. Yes, it's called coaching, and he's just about the best! Joe Alexander is a freak! Jamie Smalligan looks to be much more athletic that Pitts. Should help out a ton on defense. Nickols and Young will be better. The offense will run through them, and they seem more than ready to take that responsibility. Da'Shawn Butler looks good. I don't think he was on top of his game last night, but he still looked pretty good. Ruoff is going to be the assasin on this team. People will forget about him because of everyone else on the floor, and he is going to kill some people this year with his three's.

Yeah, it's going to be fun watching these guys!

How bout those freaking Big East officials that kept Miss. State in the game. I made the trip to Starkville, and it is Stark! The there was one time when they went to throw a flag, and a cow bell came out. It was pitiful! The score should have been about 90-0. I have about 100 or so pictures from the game that I will be weeding through and posting over the next couple days. We had a good 5-7k fans there. It was great!!!

Here is a link to a writer for EWU. I'm going to have an interview up with him later on in the week. They made the 1AA playoffs the last two years, and their quarterback from last year got a lot of looks from the NFL. I don't know the status, but he was with the Bengals last I heard. Despite playing pretty tough schedules by 1AA standards, they have had winning records the last 4 years. 6-5, 6-5, 9-4, and 7-5 I think.

Ok, if anyone is interested in listening to the interview, go here.
This is a direct link to just my segment of the show. It takes a few seconds/minutes to load up, so go get a beer after you click the link, and it should start up by the time you get back.

I like the blue guys as well. Kind of has a Cornish Pixies feel to it. If anyone is having trouble you might be able to listen to it <a href="<a href="http://sports.aol.com/bloggerslive"" target="_blank">http://sports.aol.com/bloggerslive"</a> target="_blank">here</a>. I had to download an active x plug in to be able to listen to it. <br /><br /><img src="<a href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/24 ... ggybear.0.jpg"" target="_blank">http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/24 ... ear.0.jpg"</a> align="left" alt="" /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />Dude, you don't need a Dell, come 'ere and let me show you what you need!

Hey guys,

I was interviewed today by Jamie Mottram @ Sports Bloggers Live. Here is a link to the interview.
It's about seven minutes long. I had a great time doing it. They did make mention of WMITC, so I thought I would come over and make it available to everyone.

Enjoy,
Johnny

This is all about money from the coal companies! The PR wagon is going to be going full force if the government lightens restrictions on coal production. It also means that this will never end! Once you get some corporate sponsorship involved, you can never get rid of it. Let's just hope the coal companies never get in a bidding war with the Stay Free Maxipad Co.
I'd much rather they didn't go with a name, but if they had to choose one, I wish they would go with "Our governors Gift To Our Little Twerp Brother Charity Event".

The worst was, I think after RR's first year as coach, a Marshall board right outside of Morgantown that said "We Play For Championships!" My response to that has always been that winning MAC championships is a lot like Anthony Michael Hall's character in 16 Candles, Farmer Ted, aka "King of the Dip-Shit's"! If you do plan on burning it, I would go with something that is hard to put out, like White Phosphorus!

Oh, we absolutely can be that good, and more. The attitude of this team is incredible! The ball bouced our way an awful lot last year, though. And the only major injuries seemed to help the team, not hurt it.
The main reason I put Louisville behind us is that they lost some key players on defense from last year. Personally, I think they are going to have to score about 40 pts a game to win. They have talent, and recruited well, but they don't seem to have that hard edge that a defense needs to make a difference.

Do you think you would still rate this team in the top 5? The main reason I ask is that Phil Steele's pre-season top 25 has been made public, and he has us at #17, and Louisville at #3.

1. OU
2. Auburn
3. Louisville
4. USC
5. Texas
6. Miami
7. Notre Dame
8. OSU
9. VT
10. FSU
11. Michigan
12. Tennessee
13. Arkansas
14. Georgia
15. Iowa
16. Cal
17. WVU
18. Clemson
19. Boise St
20. Florida
21. LSU
22. Nebraska
23. Utah
24. Purdue
25. Oregon

My own personal thoughts are that we probably belong at #10, and Louisville right behind us. The one thing Louisville has going for it is that they have had to listen to every ESPN mouthpiece exclaim us the Big East champs before the season starts. This will surely motivate them this off season. I think if we had a little more experience coming back in the secondary, and both offensive tackles returning, I would have no problem putting us in the top 5, but we have a few question marks that will need to be answered.

What are your thoughts?
