They score to quick or in the case of our offense in most second halfs this year they went 3 and out to often. In 16, Dana got a lead and played Nehlen ball, ground it out. This year we'd run the ball to the 50 then **** head would call three passes, two screens on 1st and 2nd then a bomb on 3rd and 3. Punt.

Lol. Told my son, see what being a football hero will get you. Baseball players have to be good looking and play guitar to pull something like that.

On a serious note. They did run the 335. Any chance of grabbing a couple of quality assistants.

I thought of the same thing.

Don't know about th D assistants but Garin Justice just got hired. We need him bad.

I like looking at the end of the year stats for trends that help explain our season. It seemed to me that our D-line was very weak compared to last year. The stats bear that out in terms of total tackles contributed by the 4 key members of the D-line:

WVU D line 2017: Donahue 40 tackles, Shuler 37 tackles, Rose 24 tackles, McDougle 23 tackles

WVU D line 2016: Darrien Howard 66 tackles, Nwachuku 40 tackles, Shuler 34 tackles, Brown 34 tackles

Brief summary: 2016 174 tackles, 2017 124 tackles.

Huge different at the NT position.

That's an interesting analysis. At first blush, the assumption to me is that our D Line was otherwise occupied and so the LB's and Safeties had to make stops instead and one would think that would mean that the other teams were getting more yards per carry up the middle. Though I suppose it could mean teams chose to run outside more which would skew the numbers toward more tackles for LB's and Safeties or that teams threw on us more and ran less or that teams were using less hurry up and ran fewer plays in 2017.

Not meaning to put you on the spot, but do you know anything about any of these other numbers? That's 29% fewer tackles made by linemen, which is a huge difference. My interest is piqued.

I knew we'd miss Noble and Howard but damn.

Maybe, but when was the last time you saw a WVU RB rip off a 50 yard TD like Utah did to us? There is something going on with the blocking scheme for the run game. Either our linemen are terrible or the blocking scheme is poor. The playcalling has also left a lot to be desired. Its like we don't do any self scouting or make adjustments. Utah was ready for everything we ran.

Been on this for a decade now. There's been quality Lineman but as a unit it just doesn't gel. Always one guy missing a block and it normally comes on the combo block. A Stanford guy couldn't fix it. Dana needs to hire Garin Justice like today. If he can't fix it then it's FUBR.

I love Gibby, he was in his first days of being a student assistant when I came to Glenville. Kept in touch and coached against him down in Kentucky. But I'd like to see a change in D. The 3-3-5 has been a pain in our ass forever. Can't stop the run and can't stop 3rd and long. Gibby needs to start studying the 4-2-5 4-4 4-3 or anything with four down lineman. Between the incoming class and the kids here they have enough quality guys to do it. But Dana has become more stubborn than Bill. It's like watching Bill all over again. A predictable offense and no sign what so ever of the team getting better as the year goes by.

Here's how this is gonna go down. Wvu takes the ball first scores. Chugs knows the system and will use the underneath stuff and the run game which has gashed these assholes before. We score first, they punt without douche hammer in the game and we score again. Baker comes in and we trade scores the rest of the day. WVU 49 OU 45.

Fact is, this league will not let OU lose.

since I said this team wouldn't win another game they are 2-0. So I'm sticking with it, these guys can't win another game.

Reminds me of a pampered child that needs changed. lol. Love Owen. Nothing will change that. Steve, I don't guess I have an opinion about him. I'm away from WV, and haven't read where he's said anything either good or bad about WVU in a long time..

A framed pic and jersey hangs in my sports room right beside one each for Jerry West. Always will, with that said I had to unfollow Pat on twitter. couldn't handle it, and I knew I'd end up not liking the guy.

If it's a problem it's a athletic department problem more than football staff problem. Dana didn't schedule to honor the 07 team then half ass it. That's from someone in the ADs office. I want those guys treated like the football gods they are. It's not the coaching staffs job. Now if The letterman club or whatever sets up things and Dana locks the door facility then we can yell at Dana.

Here's the thing, on game day I hope our staff is busy with the task at hand. I'm sorry but they don't have time to make sure the former players needs are met. That's a job for the Letterman Club not a coaching staff on game day. If it's during the week and not during practice then yes as I said on Twitter, their should be GAs walking around tossing rose peddles on the ground for the GOAT to walk on. Pat White is still my favorite player of all time and unless somebody wins a NC and Heisman while rescuing babies from a burning building he always will be. With that said he can be a petty guy. This isn't the first time he's aired some type of grievance. Beer Truck is just as beloved as PW and Super Steve yet is always around the program but has never complained about being treated bad.

A lot of these recruits, especially the guys from the region grew up worshiping PW and Slaton. You hear current players talk about watching those guys as kids. You think Dana would purposely slight this centuries face of the program? Quincy Wilson was around the team a lot when Dana first showed up, what, Dana likes Wilson and not Pat? Come on.

If I'm Dana, it's game day and a former star player shows up with 50 or so teammates and starts acting like he is entitled to more than everyone else, I'm probably going to roll my eyes and go on with beating the #15 team with out giving it much thought.

Again, love Pat and am thankfull for what he did for us but he's got to understand as the Grey Ghost did at the end of Everybody's All American his days are over. Just take the timeout break shoutout/standing ovation and roll with it. He kind of sounds like the blue hairs, "we should still be playing in the Big East with UCONN and USF. Now be still, Matlock's on".

Or Dana might be spiteful, like damn son you set expectation too damn high.

Sometimes I wish they could of broken in Matt Jones a little more last year. Just like I hope in 2 years when Matt Jones is a Senior, they break in his replacement a little better. The Center position is just such a critical component to any football team.

OSU's Lundblade was out vs. TCU, and Texas and you saw there whole offense struggle. Of course he came back fully restored vs. WVU.

You look at the best backs over the years you will see a top flight center out front. Amos had Eric De Groh, Murrell had Compton, Slaton had Mozes for a year then Mike Dent who may have sucked at snapping but could block as good as anyone, Noel had Joe Madsen, Smallwood and then Jennings last year had Orlosky. Avon was the exception. No clue who the center was then.

Save to say we've been spoiled. That's my position, played it from age 9 to 22. I'm more critical of it than any other position and it's struggling this year.

Listening to Uncle Don on sports line and it was stated that Campbell is from the Nehlen coaching tree. His coach at Mt Union worked for Uncle Don. Pisses me off k owing ISU will be rolling in here playing WVU football and we will be playing some pussyass west Texas candy ass flag football.

Hey at least we finally get Mike Patrick in the booth.

Yes and I too hate the air raid. I won't watch teams that run it. I'm stuck with WVU running it I guess. Give me Stanford's offense.

Sorry Wheels, that meh, 10 win season made him safe for another 3 years. I don't see a win on the schedule. Maybe KSU maybe Texas. I'd give them a 40% chance in both but the other two forget about it.

Buddy of mine wanted to go and take our boys. I'm like you want to spend 8 hours ins car, drop 120 a piece on tickets, sit in the cold for a beat down? 20 dollar ticket? Sure I'll go but I'm not paying 2007 prices for 2017 results. I'm not being a over reacting dick, this is what we have.

I can't wait to see what the uncomfortable part of things will be. I hope Dana calls plays and the O Line gets shaken up. Not sure if they're another center or not but Jones isn't very good. He's the one that fails up most of the run plays. He can't block.

I know they had the come back vs TT but this team all to often looks like they don't care. Minus a few guys. David long and Al being the main guys that brings it every play.
