I'm with you. If it is borderline, which it sounds like it would be, I would say let him sit until next year.

On another note, is there any word on Grier's recovery? Is he definitely out for the bowl game as well?

I am damned happy to be right where we are. At least being in a P5 conference we have a chance to make the playoffs. If we were in the AAC, we would never even get the chance, and not much better off as an independent.
Also, the money is MUCH better in the Big 12, than it was in the Big East.
I read that it will be a $34 million dollar check this year on the football side, plus a chunk of any playoff, or bowl monies brought in by the conference.

I would go out on a limb and say that I would bet that the basketball money is probably also better in the Big 12 than it is in the Big East, so-called "Powerhouse" basketball conference.

True, I was a little puzzled he didn't use any timeouts, especially before Texas scored TD and defense was out of position. He didn't use one and Texas scored TD easily.

Since he is no longer calling plays, shouldn't he be on top of this.

Ok, I have a solution to this. Since Holgs has deferred play calling to Spavital, he could defer time out calling to Gibby. That way Holgs can concentrate on what he is really good at: monitoring the Red Bull.

Well, Miami and Clemson will play each other in the ACC championship game, so one of them will drop. Auburn and Alabama loser drops, and then will play Georgia in the SEC CC game. Gonna laugh my ass off if Miami beats Clemson, putting Miami in and Clemson out. Alabama loses to Auburn, putting the SEC champion in, and Alabama in, and Wisky loses to whoever in the Big 10 CC game, giving the B1g NO teams in. So SEC - 2
ACC - 1
B12 - 1
Pac - 0
B1g - 0

That is a definite recipe to get to 8 teams sooner rather than later. B1g getting left out, and getting 2 teams in from the SEC or ACC would be a big step to an 8 team playoff.

Would it not be funny as hell if Pitt beats Miami this weekend 13-9? Pitt was a wart on the butt cheek of the Big East. The ACC wanted them, now they should get all the spoils of having them.

"if we need a backup?"

WTF????

We have Chugs, Crest, and if somehow aliens land and abduct those two, we have Sills.

Done! We have a backup or two! No need to burn a redshirt for Crying Freeking out loud!

Got to be Sills, right? They wouldn't burn Israel's redshirt in the last game....would they?

If they burn a redshirt for this, the entire coaching staff needs to be fired immediately. That would be stupid to an epic degree. This season is a wash, more or less, already. No need to screw ourselves even further.

In an effort to solidify top 4, they smoke the first half and go in 38-6. Second string comes in to prevent injury but still finish the game 55-22. Dammit, but we won't be up for this game especially after the D watches a few series from the anemic offense.

Not trying to be a Debbie Downer, but I will be very surprised if Ok is in the top 4 after tomorrow.
Wisconsin's win over Meat-Chicken is a hell of a lot more impressive than Ok's win over Kansas. Also, Wisky is undefeated. It will be really hard to keep the Sooners at number 4.
Which, if that happens, means that the Big 12 could be left out of the playoffs again, and all of us down the line get a worse bowl, the conference gets at least one less bowl, and we get less money in Morgantown for our program.

And maybe he could throw to himself and make it REALLY interesting!

Google Chrome seems to work better all the way around, including streaming ESPN.

No silver lining!!! If Greir doesn't come back next year our offense will suck though defense will be good. Always seems to login up that way?!?!?!?!

Next year? IMO, there is no question he comes back next year. You think he goes pro? From a 7 win (or 8 with the bowl) team? Nope! he will not go high enough in the draft to make it worth him going to the NFL. In fact, the silver lining might actually be that his injury makes him more likely to return next year. I didn't think there was much chance for him to leave before the injury. There are going to be too many great QB's in the draft next season. I believe the injury actually may seal his fate to remain a Mountaineer for another year.

Yea, I guess maybe we get to a bowl that we could actually win. Maybe that is the silver lining here.

I stopped caring about this game when Grier went down. This game is so unimportant in comparison to the injury. Any word on him? Is he out for next week too? Do we know?

With that kind of thinking, why didnt Pitt just lay down for us `07 so we could have gone on to New Orleans ?

I m not suggesting that any team should lay down for another. Hell, if the conference did that, we would be the ACC.
I am just saying that beating Oklahoma could cause us to end up in a worse situation than if Oklahoma beats us.

Less bowls to go around, worse bowl for us, and absolutely the MOST important thing is less MONEY!

The absolute MOST important thing in college football is MONEY, MONEY, MONEY, MONEY!

In fact there is nothing else that even comes close to the importance of MONEY!

And the second most important thing? MONEY!

Money is the third, fourth, and fifth most important thing too! :)

In fact there is nothing else that matters. The only thing that matters in college football is money.

Just ask the SEC, ACC, Big 10, and Pac 12.

At this point, I know this will sound weird, but assuming we win next week against Texas, and if TCU and Okie Lite both win next week, I believe it is actually in our best interest in the long run to lose to Oklahoma.

Here is why:

We are in 4th place in the conference. We have beaten ISU and if we beat Texas, neither of those 2 will pass us in the conference. So our spot in 4th place is secure if we beat Texas.

There is nearly ZERO chance for us to end up in 2nd because it would require that BOTH TCU and Okie State lose at least one game over the next two weeks. It could happen, but not likely.

So if we do beat Oklahoma, we would knock the Big 12 out of the playoffs.

The reason that could hurt us is because if the conference does not have a representative in the playoffs, everyone gets knocked down a level in bowls. But if Oklahoma goes to the playoffs, the second place team would go to the Sugar, leaving the 3rd and 4th place teams in better bowls than if there was no Big 12 team in the playoffs.

Of course, all of this changes dramatically if somehow both TCU and Okie State lose one of their two remaining games. I just don't think that will happen.

I never doubted that he would return. He doesn't have the body of work needed to go very high in the draft. As it is, he would go 4th or 5th round at best simply because he would be such a tough call for any NFL team.

Here is the proof, as if anybody with half a brain needed it:

Wisconsin played NOBODY. They finally played a top 25 team and beat them. Beat #20 Iowa, ok well done badgers.

Wisconsin WAS ranked number 8 in the coaches poll.

Number 5 Oklahoma destroys the number 6 team TCU. TCU was never in that game and it was over by halftime. They got a few pints to make it interesting, but they were never going to catch up.

So somehow, Wisconsin vaults Oklahoma in the Coaches Poll, leaving OK at number 5 and Wisconsin ends up at number 4? WTF?????

A touchdown without a first down? Surprising!

What's NOT surprising is saving hundreds by switching to Geico!
