Y'all realize that ESPN Is a 4 letter word, right?

I just chopped my Dish Network bill from 125/month to 65/month by dropping back to a package that doesn't have ESPN at all. Haven't missed it one bit.
As long as people keep buying ESPN, they will keep doing what they do which is favor the same handful of programs year after year which steers top recruits to those schools and keeps the status quo as is.

Sounds like Holgs is growing up as a head coach. These are the kinds of things that will contribute to the maturation of the program and attract the next generation of Mountaineers.

Oh well, I don't give a crap what stupidity ex-WVU players do anymore. I only worry about the current ones. It helps me take fewer nerve pills.

It looks like the kicker has just become less important to the outcome of a game. I wonder how this will affect recruiting of kickers.

Bianca Cuevas-Moore was a key player for the (South Carolina) team during their national title run, but will end her playing career for West Virginia.

I just cut my Dish bill in half, I was paying about $130/month. Now, I don't even get ESPN or Fox Sports. I don't miss those channels at all.

Reading these articles about crooked dealings behind the scenes makes me all the more sure that I don't even want to watch the games anymore. Without a level playing field in recruiting, what's the use? Programs that choose to play by the rules will only ever get that occasional diamond in the rough, but never be able to build a complete team that can honestly compete. I always wondered why we never get a four or five star QB behind an offensive line with all 300 pound plus linemen like they do at Alabama or Michigan. We sometimes get that one really top level recruit, but he has no supporting cast around him.

I always suspected, but now I know.

I just don't even want to watch anymore.

I have wondered for a very long time if refs were on the take. I would LOVE to see a news headline one day that says that there has been fraud uncovered in the way refs call games.

These things don't happen overnight except with 5 star kids. All you message board coaches who coached in middle school or high school or wherever, and who know better than Huggy how to handle his team when you have information about said team from TV, Internet, radio and the guy at the gas station, are highly amusing.

It's one thing to say "I always felt like the way to handle this situation as a coach is to do x, y and z". It is quite another thing to bitch that a coach sucks who got us to the sweet 16 3 out of the last 4 years with guys who are not elite talent and to state with great conviction that he has screwed the pooch on a kid because he was in the doghouse.

You guys all sound like a bunch of Hunter's dads tweeting how wrong the coach is.

What do the comedians say to the hecklers? Hey I don't show up at your job and tell you how to suck a dick.

Just sayin.

One more thing I'd like to say in support of your post wvmtneer, and I made a similar comment on another thread, but I think it bares repeating here. And it is the fact that on my job I have to travel the entire country literally all 50 states. When I land, one of the first things I do in my rental car is find a sports station on the radio. This year every time I did, literally within an hour the subject of West Virginia basketball and or Bob Huggins was being talked about. This is no exaggeration. Mr. Huggins has raised the profile of West Virginia basketball.

And if we do, I will consider that to be a smashing success. How many other teams in the country can make the claim that they've made it to the Sweet 16 four out of The Last 5 Years?
We will if we make it to the Sweet 16 again next year. Also how many other teams in the country can make the claim that every time you turn on ESPN, Fox Sports, or even your local sports radio station no matter where you live, that sometime during that hour somebody's going to talk about your teams basketball? This year I noticed that is exactly what happened with West Virginia basketball. As I traveled the entire country, and turn on sports radio stations all over the country, literally within an hour of my turning on their station, West Virginia basketball and Bob Huggins is being talked about at some point.

I agree. Hugs is a future HOF coach and he has us in the national spotlight every year. He has us in the tourney almost every year, and anybody who gets into the field of 64 has a chance to win it all. This year, I am pretty darn sure that I was able to watch every WVU BB game on national TV here in SC. That is something that I do not recall ever happening before.
My only regret about him is that he is in his mid-60's and who knows how much longer he will be coaching. It takes a heck of a lot of searching and just plain blind luck to find a young up and comer to take the place of a guy like him. Frankly, we have been spoiled. The good news is, we apparently have him for at least another couple of years.

Not that we’re having this conversation right now, but Huggs has put us in a position that when he hangs it up, we will be able to attract just about anyone we want, within reason. I think he goes 2 more years, 3 maybe. I think the two leading contenders to replace him (though I would like to see them be HC in D1, even low-major) would be Patty B or Darris Nichols

I really hope you're right about the future coaching situation. Fortunately for us we don't have to worry about that for probably at least another two years, maybe three as you say. There is one thing that I do think that Hugs has also done for us, along with raising the general profile of the program, might be also to attract better recruits. I really hope that our success has some of these five-star guys sitting at home watching the game and thinking to themselves, " if I were on that team, I could have done XXXX and possibly got them the win."

Yes, and I like the chances that the conference will be represented this way.
If this happens, I think it will speak volumes about Big 12 supremacy in BB this year.
Actually, I think the supremacy is already apparent for those who will take notice. The Elite 8: Big 12- three teams, ACC- two teams, Big 10- one team. Everybody else- two teams.

It is way too hard to guage how McCabe will do in college, most of his highlights from Wisc are against similiar guards his size. The average guard in Big 12 is prob. at about 6-2, or if smaller they are fast as lighting like Graham, Mason, or Staten. He should start practicing threes from far away like Trae Young does now.

I was thinking the same thing about him. I need to see him play on this level. I am having a hard time getting excited about a 5'10" guy unless he has a 36" vertical or something. I know there are 4 stars beside his name, but I have to see it to believe it. Of course, Hugs seems excited about him, so maybe I should too just based on that.

All in all, I think where we ended the season is about right. We were in the top 16 of the tourney and somewhere in the top 16 of the NCAA.

The numbers are clearly representative of thresholds of achievement, not actual totals.
