I wonder if Routt will retain his scholarship. My guess is that he won't and he was given it with the understanding that it was a one time thing. He is a scholarship player this year, correct? That would open one spot, and other than Teddy leaving, Hunter is the only player that really isn't getting playing time. He'll be a senior, and may still transfer out to a d2 school. Best I can come up with, unless Bender has made it known that he isn't comfortable and will be leaving after the year. Just an opinion folks.

Teddy should stay. I think he wants to get better, and knows that Bob can do that for him. He's a very naturally talented scorer. Has limitations, but somehow overcomes not being as athletic as Dax, say, or as long as Harris, or even as strong as Jevon, but if he sticks, and again, I think it's a no-brainer he will if you listen to his comments, he will learn to play better defense. He has a lot of what makes Trae Young so good, IN MY OPINION, before I get blasted, he has a slower shot, and seems to lack the absolute confidence that Trae has, but then Trae wouldn't be what he is, had he came to WVU either. My guess there, is that he would be in about the same boat as Teddy at some point earlier this year. I digress. Teddy will stay. If Culver is say as good as Ebanks coming in, which is likely, then we will be scary next year. Beetle is picking his game up. I bet he leads the country in drawing offensive fouls. Add in that phenom at PG Jordan McCabe and the Doomes kid and I'm telling you, on paper it's scary.
Bender is coming around. Sags is learning and visibly getting better throughout the year. Lamont is making 3s again. Throw in an elite PG, and a very talented 6'10"+ big with good footwork, and next year screams THIS IS THE YEAR.... but then, so does every other year..

I thought we were in some trouble this year, I mean we got off to a wonderful start when out of the blue we lost Macon. Then the whole Esa thing.. I know we got up to #2, but I really thought we were staring down the barrel of a 19-20 win season, if we got lucky a couple times.. and we're already there. Huggs has done a good job with these kids... Just about any other coach out there would have lost this team by now. Sags pouting and getting in his own head either by fouling out nonstop, or by buying in to his press clippings and getting an Erin Harris type thing going, Bender giving up instead of staying with it, Beetle never learning to play good defense, Lamont checking out when he had to be more than just a kick out 3 guy, Teddy either running wild like a Drew Schifino or Aric Murray, or just quitting to transfer when **** didn't go his way, Wes Harris quitting or feeling betrayed when Esa waltzed back in and played despite some of the worst boxing out and defense I've seen all year at times, and Esa transferring instead of sitting half a year.

ALL of these things were distinct possibilities at different points during the year, and a lesser coach would have lost at least one or two by now.. Huggs hasn't lost any of his players.. Are they flawed, indeed. But give the man some credit, besides Dax and JC, just about every one of these kids could have bailed on this team. The more I think about it, the more I'm impressed that he's managed to do what he's done this year.

Multiple problems that i see. Some coaching. Some players. Esa has got to block out. Heuggs has to turn Teddy loose. He is our only offense at points, and hes scared to shoot. Everyone stops moving when JC starts dribbling, most of the time in the second half. Stop playing West unless hes only a jump shooter. He is too slow to guard, but has made up for it with his offense. He cant buy a bucket, so why is he playing...

I hate Kentucky. I hate Kentucky. And I hate blowing a 17 point lead to them Phucks. I just wish to hell we weren't ranked. The rankings rank. The B12 is not a juggernaut just because conference teams beat each other. That's the same old bull shcitt in football from the SEC. When teams venture out and play other conference teams and get beat, the rankings are BS.

Nah, the Big 12 had some very impressive wins out of conference, and unless i'm missing something, no really TERRIBLE losses in OOC games.. The Big 12/SEC challenge doesn't necessarilly mean that the SEC is now the best conference and that we were all just overrated this year... It had a LOT to do with matchups, and UK had to come back from 17 down to us, literally two very last second wins, and Florida coming out and shooting something like 68% from 3 to get a 15-20 point lead.. after having combined for something like 28% 3 point shooting combined in the previous two games.. i watched a LOT of it, and it was just a ridiculous display of shooting, and when they said that Florida wasn't necessarilly a good 3 point shooting team, and had been in a particular slump as of late, it made what they were doing vs Baylor that much more improbable.. It was crazy. Baylor just caught them on the worst day possible..

So, yeah... any given day, this just as likely is at least 6-4 Big 12. TCU had every chance to win that game. and WVU was getting jobbed by the big 12 refs. and this was one of the worse called 2nd halves ive seen.. right up there with when JC and Dax were up 20 at the half in the Phog, only to be robbed in the second half.. all the way to the end, it was bad. announcers were all over it. Hell, they call a jump ball at the end, and actually reviewed it without overturning ****, when its clear that Sags had the ball, on the ground, when the UK player jumps on him... Like a wrestling move.. Jay Bilas was audibly disgusted by two of the fouls called on Sags. On the wrestling move elbow smash turned into a reviewed and confirmed jump ball, effectively ending the game. and at least two other calls against WVU in the second half. If it wasn't obvious, try to rewatch, if you can stomach it, on YouTube, and watch how the zebras gave UK a lot of chances to get back in the game.

Having said that, I DO NOT believe that we played well at all in the second half. Terrible, in fact. The refs got in Sags' head for sure. Esa wouldn't block out to save someone's life, and we ran our normal panic mode offense. One guy dribbling WAAAY too much, with four other guys growing roots from standing around.. THIS is what made Teddy soo damn effective. He refuses to stop moving. Then, when he starts driving and either getting fouled on the shot, or scoring, it seemed to pick up WVU and that's what was making us ok in the second half a lot of times. We can't rely on that, and shouldn't have to. IDK the answer. I hope and think Huggs will figure it out. We will be ok, by tourney time, and that's all that I want.

Gottcha, you take their word and I'll go with the direct words from the coach.

If there was direct disrespect from Teddy towards a coach, why wouldn't Huggins come out with that info? Maybe he should so that fans like me, and pretty much everyone else doesn't have to " read between the lines" of the actual quotes of the coach? Hmmmmmmm...?

From all that i have heard, and whil i am in SC, I have still heard the same thing independently, and that is this:
Apparently Teddy got pissed off at an assistant coach, and basically yelled at him something to the effect of "who the **** you think you are" and then bumped the assistant coach, almost knocking him down...

The people that I heard this from are close to the program.. also, while Huggins is willing to use teachable moments to teach, it's what he does, he will not throw a player under the bus for something like this.. If Huggins would have told the media that this happened, a LOT of people would have turned on Teddy, and that would have possibly had two effects. One is that i could have messed up Teddy, having zero positive effect on his issues, and the second is that Teddy would have probably transferred. Benching is one thing, get through that and hopefully Teddy comes out the other side a better man, having learned something valuable for life and being better fro the team. Throwing a kid under the bus or rubbing his nose in his mistake in what ammounted to an emotional outburst, gets you nothing, and doesn't help Teddy, but likely hurts him..

I trust Huggins, but I also trust the people that told mw what happened. So having watched Huggins all of these years, and knowing that he truly cares for his players more than wins, it makes more sense than just a bad attitude.. or whatever Huggins said to the media.

Thoughts?

Well with Knapper and Esa coming back, we shall soon have enough depth to play more press.

I thought Knapper was done for the year. I wouldn't think a meniscus would cost the season. I just figured they didn't want to burn a redshirt for half a season. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see him out there.

Huggins has said all year that Knapper is an unknown, and that he would use him if he got healthy. Well, he practiced with the team, full go im assuming, a couple days ago for the first time. Signs are pointing to Knapper playing. We need another PG.. It makes sense getting Knapper as much PT as possible, losing Carter next yea, and getting McCabe, we will need all the experience we can get. Bolden is a better Vinny Johnson type scorer than a true PG.

I think the only thing you can really take from this game, unless you just want to be negative, is that we have to have a better backup qb. I dont see how everyone didnt see something like this coming. 2 backup o linemen, 1,000 yard rb out. Elite qb out... Defense was typical couple big plays, refs missed some costly flags, about what I expected. We have to get better backup qb play... If KSU and ISU can get to qb 4 or 5, we should at least have a legit backup.. Makes me question if any of Chuggs problems are due to the system we run.. Probably not a lot, but it seems to be hard for inexperienced guys to step into it.. Grier is the forst one to.have immediate success. Skylar and Trickett bith.had issues.

Just watched Leddie Brown sign, and he pissed off what sounded like quite a few people. lmao, good for him. He starts to announce, and his mom, im assuming, pulls off her jacket to show a UNC shirt, and he grabs the UNC hat. a LOT of ppl start cheering.. lol, then he tosses the UNC hat and dons the Gold n Blue, and his mom takes off the UNC shirt to show a second, WVU shirt underneath.. while one dude goes nuts off screen, saying YEAH LEDDIE over and over, and some ppl cheer the WVU signing, at first, a few ppl booed.. It was funny as hell. Not very original, i know, but still, funny.

Also, so far, the guys that stand out to me, and I'm not finished watching film yet, but again, so far, Dillon Spalding at WR looks to be the real deal. It's funny to see a pic of him, then see his film, they don't match.. at all... but lord, he is a playmaker.. Josh Norwood is VERY fast. Plays bigger than his frame, and soo fast. With this class, Dana HAS to evolve again, and learn to use these TE's out of this class. Big fast kids, that line up at WR more often than not, and are outrunning a lot of DBs that they simply shouldn't be. Leddie Brown has amazing balance. Almost Tavon like balance and feet, but a lot bigger. Able to absorb an amazing amount of contact and keeps his feet moving while continuing to gain yards after contact YAC. I see why Alabama wanted this kid. D Line guys look very promising. Especially Stills. Raines looks to be a first day starter. Physically gifted kid, that's built like White at safety already. He looks special. Lowe at QB has a very nice touch on his passes. Looks faster than Geno, but not Pat White speed. Much better passer than Pat though. All in all, when you count Jack Allison, the WR transfer from Alabama, Simmons, and the other kid that actually counts against this class, this is BY FAR on paper, the best class that I have seen at WVU top to bottom. Tavis Lee was an Parade All American as a freakin Junior.. I can't tell about the O Linemen. Time will, but i am super excited about what i have seen in this class. Thoughts?

Hey, what ended up happening to that high 4* cb from Miramar that we signed with Jovon, that never made it to WVU? I have seen a few articles over the years showing just how well some of the players that flipped from WVU ended up doing, but not recently, and not in depth. Seems like with all of the recruiting hype, someone would do a contrast and compare in depth article comparing some of the near misses we've had over the years, with some of the guys we've flipped to us and guys that we almost lost at the last minute. With recruiting as big as it is, and our fan base as rabid as it is, I'm surprised that one of these articles isnt written and updated every year. I would love to see it. Some guys that would make the list, Logan Heastie, Taj Boyd, Latwan Anderson (sp?), the guys we've lost to Ohio State, on one side, and guys like Jason Colson and Garry Jennings on the other side.. I know there are more, just watching the BBall game, and can't remember some of the names we've lost over the years. A D Lineman to Georgia, Tre Mason to Auburn.. Did I really see that one right? Anyway, anyone seen an article like this, and have a link?

Again, Tavis Lee and Jayce Rogers were not signing today, for reasons I do not understand.

As far as I know, Michigan convinced Vincent Gray to hold off committing until February. They evidently have him as a plan B (or C) if other plans don't pan out. they don't want him right now, but will come back to him if bigger fish don't bite. I guess he was ok with that arrangement.

thanks for the answer about Vincent Gray.. that could end up being the achilles heal for WVU next year at CB. If there are any diamonds in the rough at cb out there in JC, I trust Dana to find them. Maybe we get Gray, but maybe we find someone a little more play ready in JC or via graduate transfer, to sure up a thread bare db core.

Bender showing what he has.. And now, Toni has just said what i keep saying.. Bender has the best skill set of the centers, no doubt.. Put Teddy Allen's confidence in Magic Bender's head, and look out. As I am typing this, Magic blocks a friggin dunk.. sweet

Did we lose the Missouri kid, or not? I know we lost Harrison to ASU, which really blows my mind, after firing their coach for freakin Herm "you play to win the game" Edwards.. I thought that one was a lock.. oh well

Damn.. Well, in Dana I trust.. I'm sure he's all over it. But hell, with Alabama trying to get Brown, and him committing to us over them, I would think that FL and UNC are quite pedestrian teams to be fighting for his services. I'm sure Dana has this in hand. I just wonder if he has told Dana that he will sign today, and has managed to piss him off.. Dana won't put up with a lot of that kind of stuff. So things could get interesting.
