In the second half our guys stand around waiting and watching for JC to drive, other teams move their feet and work their system.

I noticed Konate and Ahmed in the last two games have been unprepared at times to accept passes from Teddy. Bobbled them or dropped them. I think Teddy got the memo on passing the ball inside, now they have to handle his passes. Esa seems weak with the ball inside sometimes, kind of like Macon his first 2 seasons, loses handle, gets stripped, etc. Hope he improves with ball strength.

When you start milking the clock with 9 or 10 or 11 minutes left and everyone but Carter is afraid to shoot -- and your best shooter is sitting on the bench -- that's a strategy designed to blow leads.

Bolden should play the entire second half. At least he WILL shoot the ball.

Teams adjust in the second half, but we seem to adjust in the wrong direction. No matter how dominant we are in the 1st half we get beat in the 2nd. I've never seen a team do this as consistently as we do. Win by 22 then lose by 11. Basketball is a game of runs and momentum, but that is a 33 point swing. How can that happen?

Most likely all mental now. Lost too many second half leads and probably go “Oh Shit” when they are back in the same situation

Because they aren’t afaird of our outside shooting. They clog the lane and don’t worry about it being kicked back out.

It’s called keep your shoes in the paint

I honestly think in the big dance we make a serious run. Don’t care what happens in Big 12 tourney. ( unless we win the entire thing)

We have some things that can takes us far.

1. One of the best pt guards in country

2, Most experienced backcourt in the country

3. A decent bench

4. Better than average big man

5. We play defense

6. And we are well coached.

BUT BUT here is the other side of the pancake......we must put the ball in the hole

Game no, second half yes.

It's a trend

I'd like to agree, but just don't see it with the shooting being so inconsistent. Haven't seen team string together 3 or 4 games of good shooting. I'd be happy with making it to sweet sixteen and think we have a good shot to make it. It also depends on matchups. You can't take just make a blanket statement that we will make deep run when you don't even know the possible matchups.

Did we lose "literally?"

Did it feel like we "almost" lost?

Two very different questions which elicit two very different responses.

Are we the only fanbase that can turn an 11 point win on the road to a conference opponent who had just won 5 games including wins over Kansas and Texas Tech into "feeling like a loss"? You people would win the lottery and say you lost all this money in taxes.

WVU will be tough to beat on a Saturday or Sunday. The Big 12 teams have more familiarity with the style of play. Non conference teams will have a lot of problems with the speed of thought required when they have the ball.

Take a look at how we play defense. While we may well be playing a 1-3-1 defense or a 2-3 zone the fact is we often trap the ball handler out past the 28 foot mark. When passes are made from that its hard to out match 4 guys with 3 guys. They will always have the numerical advantage. Match that with the fact that our zone defense plays farther out than most zones and you can see that the opponent doesn't have to overload the zone they can almost attack it like we are playing man-to-man by spreading it.

Now saying that, the fact is also that you don't get 13 blocked shots by not having a tree in front of the basket so I think perception is also off here.

When we have the ball, we don't really have a lights-out 3 point shooter. We don't have that guy who if he has an open look is going to make a three most of the time.

When we attack the basket like we do in the first half there are numerous times that we have good unimpeded drives but when you sit back and run time the defense can pack in and make you shoot out front. The shot clock becomes our enemy.

When you drive the lane with less than 5 seconds to go on the SC you had better get VERY significant contact or, as an official, you are going to look like you are bailing out the offensive player who didn't have a chance. Add to that the way Javon drives to the basket like his head is on-fire and that adds to problem.

Ha! Ha! You're right.

I earn my income. I pay taxes on my earned income. I use my AFTER tax dollars to buy a lottery ticket to benefit senior citizens.

I WIN the lottery. My winnings should by considered capital gains and NOT income.

Yes, I agree, you are correct. I did pay TOO much in taxes.

But at least I keep a "few" more "crumbs" now!!!

Not really, Kentucky, Texas AM were not familiar but still won. To me its all about matchups.

They had more than 2 days to prepare.

You could be right, and it seems most of the ESPN guys constantly state what your saying, but I don't feel its too much an advantage, it took Kentucky just a half to figure out what to do to beat it.

I think Huggins has realized that we may have needed to take a step back---maybe several steps back--in order to move forward.

The team too often relies on contested 3 pointers. Look at this last game, if it werent for Dax's bomb And 1 three pointer, that very well could have continued to slide the wrong way.

We've got to figure out how to move the ball inside when teams are trying to take it away. With Ahmad and Konate, not a lot of teams will be able to defend us in the paint. So teams are trying to deny that and force us to pass around the perimeter. We cant get lazy and take them up on the offer.

I dont agree with the clock-killing approach we had in Kansas. Thats playing not to lose.

However, I dont mind us running that caveman type of offense if we're able to pound the ball inside. Thats what we're going to need to do in the NCAA.

Its funny, each year I feel differently about the team heading into the Big 12 tournament. Last year, I couldnt care less, it was about the NCAAs.
But this year, Id like to see them challenge for the Big 12 Title. We need to prove that we can put these teams to bed. IMO we're the best all around team in the conference. Its time to show it.

I feel like we're turning a corner, lets end this season with a bunch of wins and get into the Tournament with our asses on fire.
