“He’s a little smaller than what I thought,” the scout said. “Why would you stay in the draft because a team tells you they’re going to pick you in the 50s?”

“It’s like jumping off the high board with a blindfold on and you don’t know whether there’s water in the pool or not. There may be water, there may not be.”

“My advice to him would be to go back, because look at the strides he made the last two years in college.”

“Next year’s draft isn’t as good,” the scout said, “and now that Konate has been to the combine, NBA guys will have him on the list of players to go watch next year.

“It’s a rush job to me if he goes pro now.”

What most of us experts on this board have been saying, with the exception of the pool reference. I really like that one.

sags is one of the best big men in college ball. As a center in the nba, he will be too undersized. As a matter of fact he will be too small for the power forward position. I do not believe, as good as he is, that he has a future in the nba.

Draymond Green. 6'7.5" in shoes (6'5.75' w/o), 2012 combine. Sags is big enough, not to mention his hops and reaction time, to be a 4 in the NBA. What he doesn't have yet are the shooting and passing skills hat will make him more than a role playing sub; hence the need to come back for at least one more year.

Draymond Green, can handle the ball at times, Sags can't and don't ever think he could. He will never be a Draymond Green type, more Ben Wallace.

I'd have to agree with grandparen. Hopefully we are wrong though.

The FB page "WVU's Voice of Motown" is reporting that Konate is coming back.

Most "official" source I could find:

With Sags back and the six new guys, should Huggins be fired if WVU doesn't make the final four?

(PS, before anyone takes this post too seriously, it is a joke making fun of the similar posts about Holgorsen. )

Dammit, I'm not sure the last time I was this excited for basketball AND football in the same year. Gentlemen, it will be a historic year. Of course this also sets me up for the traditional WVU let down, but for now I am pumped.

Man, our sports teams are gonna be good this year... how's women's soccer and rifle looking?? At least we know we can count on them.

The women's soccer team did well in pre-season. They lost their superstars two years ago and graduated a lot of people last year, but should be good. Rifle had its 5-year championship streak snapped (had a bad day at the NCAA and Ky, whom WVU defeated twice during the season) had a good day and beat them. But, they still have 3 returning NCAA champions on the team.

A couple lucky breaks in B-ball and team could win a National title. Cant think of anytime ever, where we had two potential number 1st rounders and maybe a second rounder on the team. I don't see any weakness on team, except maybe guard experience. Obviously losing JC is huge.

Besides Konate, who's a potential 1st rounder? Are you looking at the article that has West ahead of Konate for next year, or the unfulfilled potential of Ahmad? Either way, I think you're a little deep into the kool-aid at this point.

That said, I think we've got a shot as a TEAM of being really good next year, provided, as you said, we get good guard play.

nbadraft.net has West as potential 14th pick
and Konate listed at 16th.

If Ahmad has very good season and lives up to potential, he could be 2nd rounder.
