I would love to see Bob Huggins get out there and mix it up. He was a pretty good guard in his day. but in his current condition I doubt if he could make it up and down the court.

I would not want to see this, he would have a heart attack for sure. I would like to see him hoisting the NCAA Basketball championship trophy though.

Wow that is one fine group of Mountaineers.

Wish I could go.

That is "lighting it up". Any other notable stats or info?

Hey, can someone tell me how many years of eligibility that Jermaine Haley has left for WVU? I thought it was 2, but the only thing i read online said he had 3 years. I thought that he played a year at New Mexico State then a year at Odessa C.C. Can anyone clarify?

And just to make sure, Andrew Gordon has 3 to play 3, right?

From the Fairmont Times West Virginian:

Saturday’s game featured Mountaineers from a variety of eras, with the group of 18 players broken into two teams.

The blue team, which won the game, 128-110, was comprised of Tarik Phillip, Kevin Jones, Nathan Adrian, Joe Mazzulla, Rob Summers, Herbie Brooks, Butler, Truck Bryant, Brent Solheim and Tom Beynon.

Their opponents in white uniforms were Jaysean Paige, Elijah Macon, Juwan Staten, Flowers, Marcus Goree, Brandon Watkins, Teyvon Myers and Darryl Prue.

Paige, who scored a game high 40 points in last year’s game, increased that output this time around, pouring in a game high 53 points for the white team in a losing effort.

* * *

The evening was filled with highlights, from 3s raining down to thunderous dunks to a dance off at half court, but one player — other than Paige— who really stood out was one of the oldest players on the court in Brooks, who got hot from behind the arc in the first half.

“Not Herbie— Curry,” Butler joked. “The veteran came out there and kept us afloat, because we looked really bad the first couple of minutes.”

Brooks scored 11 points in the win for the blue team, knocking down three 3s as well as a layup. “I’ve always been able to shoot,” Brooks said. “These young guys know I can shoot, so they found me open and I had afew shots I was able to knock down.”

Butler had 10 points and four assists.

* It was a great time. Pretty good crowd for Father's Day weekend with everyone out of school or on vacation. Lower sections were almost full.

* The players had a blast, including geezers like Herbie Brooks, Darryl Prue and Marcus Goree.

* If anybody has more fun playing basketball than Teyvon Meyers I don't know who it is. He never stops smiling.

* Before the game, I watched Da'Sean Butler stand and sign autographs and shake hands with little kids for a long time. He's a real superstar in my mind. His charity will get the proceeds.

* KJ is still deadly from beyond the arc. Awesome shooter.

* Staten is still magic with the ball.

* Truck is still Truck. Make 2 shots then miss 10 in a row. Gotta love Truck.

* Rob Summers is really tall. He showed moves around the basket I never saw when he was at WVU. (Of course, defense was optional in this game.)

* Everyone who CAN go should go next year. It's well worth the 15 bucks and the players love playing before WVU fans again.

That is all.

While we all sit and wait for football season, here's a little update on the basketball team. I sure hope Knapper gets healthy, for his sake and the team's, as well. An interesting quote from Huggins about him...

"(Carter) said this past year the hardest guy he played against all year was Nap"

At least he'll be real familiar with 2 of those guys he's competing against, Mason and Hield.

I didn't realize teams were limited to 2 2-way contracts. He's got a legit shot at seeing some NBA floor time.

Dax may end up being the better pro vs. JC. Has a better build for the NBA game. Great ups. Strong and solid as a rock. Very good defender (JC is a great defender).

If he can improve his shooting %, and get an honest shot at making a roster, he might stick.

Neither of them can create off the dribble very well, which makes it kind of tough for both of them..

Right now NBA network has Trey Young vs Jevon Carter - summer league Atlanta vs Memphis ... And Trey Young on the very first play with Jevon driving and shooting the basket fouls Jevon... Trey gets called, and makes that weird face.... Gotta tell these boys this is not the Big 12 and fouls will be called against you in this world!

That team wouldn't lose to most NBA squads.

The Memphis Grizzlies survive a furious comeback from the OKC Thunder to advance in the NBA Summer Tournament with a 92-85 win!

Jevon Carter had 19 pts, 7-17 shooting, 5-6 FTM/FTA, 8 rbs, 8 assts, 1 steal and a +/- of +12 in 26 minutes!!

That's some next level stats.
