Linebacker commit for 2011. Don't know much about him, but he seems to have a good head on his shoulders.

I like this kid. He had 149 tackles in his Jr. year, 103 in his Soph. year and 155 in his Fr. year. He's a tackling machine!

He's a 3-star on Scout.

Nonetheless, still sad that he is our best recruit thus far.

rool, you obviously don't keep up with recruiting. Vance Roberts is our best Recruit he's a 4*, an I don't see why your bitching, obviously these kids have something the coaches see, an they still haven't even played there senior season of football, they could be 4 and 5 stars at the end of the season. Also I don't put much stock into the rating systems anyway they are usually biased. Also I agree with everyone who has stated that we don't know jack about these players like the coaches do, so I'd suggest just waiting until Feb.

Wasn't Jock Sanders a 2 or 3* who came in as a freshman and got playing time... How did he slip through the cracks... we need to send him off to Marshall since he wasnt ranked high enough coming out of high school... LOL

I've never understood how the rating system works but I don't think it is an evaluation of talent. I believe it's more based on who's recruiting you. So if Notre Dame is recruiting you, you are perceived as being better than if WVU is recruiting you. It's more of a beauty contest. Sure, the big schools are recruiting kids with big talent so there isn't a huge dispartiy there, but those schools can't recruit everybody. Which is one of the reasons a lot of these so-called 3-star recruits go on to be stars. I would love to see someone with the time and resources look at NFL draft picks over the past 10 years and match that to the number of "stars" these same kids were rated out of high school. How many stars was Owen Schmitt?
