So, since #3 OU gave up over 500 yards and 41 points to an 0-3 team at their place, does that also mean that they are in trouble when they play a real team? By the same logic many on here have used about our team, OU can expect to win no more than 7-8 games total this year if they don’t get things fixed in a hurry.

The difference between OU and us is that it's been a problem almost every week. Even Delaware State ran decently well against us, and we've given up huge plays (60+ yards) in every single game. It's not like OU who had an off day, plus it hasn't seemed like our defense has been improving week to week. That being said, I don't think the season is over, but I'm hoping we grow a lot during this bye week and into TCU.

I'm hoping, maybe blind hope, that because we shut down VT run and Long is returning that our recent defensive issues are an aberition. You are correct you cannot extrapolate that team X ran for 300 on team Y so team Z will run for 400 on team X. The TCU game, one we thought may be 23 v 25, is now a totally different game. I still say and have said they aren't that good. OSU **** themselves. Hill sucks. Now we are full dogs. Go in there and bark and bite. I believe in Grier and Crawford and Sills and Jennings and Sills. Let's go break their hearts

Holgerson, "That was a good road win today, any road win in the Big 12 is a good win."

Translation.... "Unless we fix run defense, it will be our only road win."

Interpretation.... "TCU will run all over us...so don't be surprised if we lose."

Reality.... "Things don't get fixed because if they could be, would've already been fixed. We finish just ahead of Kansas in the league."

But he's not wrong. We avoided disaster and won by 22...no more no less. I'd have felt better had we won by 32 but the game was never in doubt and there was not one drive where our offense was stifled. We had a major issue stopping the run. I'm not a coach, so I keep wondering, how did we shut down a very good VT run and get chewed up by a very bad KU run? There is an equally good chance we kick TCU's ass as they kick ours. Hill is a bum and I don't care what they did in Stillwater were gunna win in Ft Worth in 2 weeks

The play of the game was made by Lamonte McDougle. Congrats Mr. McDougle for making an outstanding play when we needed you most! Overnight sensation?

My daughter is a member of the band. I told her yesterday:

"If they don't get the defense fixed, you will not be going to a bowl and you will probably only win 5 games."

Reading on here about Kansas being a good team......WTF?!

Do you watch the results of this year!?

Kansas SUCKS! They are about the same as Georgia Southern and Nevada. There is not another Power 5 conference that has a comparable team to Kansas.

I am not one to be Mr. Negative. I think that we can fix this. I also would say that we did win the game but those who believe that Kansas is anything better than a FBS member pretender you are deluding yourself. Two weeks from now TCU is going to spank us big time if something doesn't change and we are going to struggle against Texas Tech and K State.

My concern started with East Carolina. It grew during Delaware State. THe Kansas game did nothing to quell it.

I will give Kansas credit. They played hard, and didn't give up when it looked like the game was getting away from them. They are improving as a team.

That being said, I am really concerned about the level of play we are seeing from our defense at 4 games in.

This would be a more valid comparison if OU's had been terrible all season. I can deal with "off games", all teams have them. Our defense has actually regressed since game one.

I think the OU-Baylor game did mean something though. I think it means that the WVU-Baylor game may not be the gimme that some of us thought it would be.

I definitely agree, but unfortunately as the luxury of being fans, we can kind of predict and evaluate results. Don't get me wrong a 22 point win on the road is good, but seeing the same problems occurring can get a little frustrating at times. Like I said, season isn't over, and I think we have a competent staff, the addition of David Long can't hurt. They definitely could just be sleep walking considering it might have been the boring 3 game stretch I've ever witnessed, it's pretty hard to get fired up for awful competition, but it's still concerning none the less. This is a great week to have a BYE, get some people healthy, and get re focused.

Kansas is a bad team.

They lost to Central Michigan who then went out a got curb stomped by Sorrycuse and got beat handily by Miami (Ohio)the following week.

Of us, Ohio and Central Michigan who do you think Kansas scored the most points on? Yes. Us.

They only scored 4 more points on Southeast Missouri State.

For all of the people that aren't worried.....the kool-aid must be good.

For some further perspective Delaware State scored the most points against us of all the teams they have played. Who are the titans of defense they have played this year?

Hampton and Delaware. Weeeeeeeeee!

East Carolina shows the same type of issues.

We are not the 23rd best team in the country. We are not even in the top 40.

Saw someone wearing a Kansas T-shirt at the grocery this evening. I complimented him on their performance against WVU. he listened politely, then responded that he was a basketball fan, not a football fan. He remembered Kansas as being bad at football.

They're raising $350 million for these guys?
