Baylor’s conference is laying down what could prove to be a very significant financial hammer on the university. Or a means to change. One of the two.

The Big 12 announced Wednesday that it withhold 25 percent of future revenue payments to BU, only releasing the monies “pending the outcome of third-party verification review of required changes to Baylor’s athletics procedures and to institutional governance of its intercollegiate athletics programs, among other matters.” According to the conference’s release, its board of directors voted unanimously on the measure.

Baylor itself didn’t have a vote in the matter.

“The Board is unified in establishing a process to verify that proper institutional controls are in place and sustainable,” said Oklahoma president and Big 12 board chairman David Boren in a statement. “Effective immediately, the Conference is withholding 25 percent of Baylor’s share of any future revenue distribution until the proper execution of controls is independently verified. By taking these actions the Board desires to ensure that the changes that were promised are actually made and that systems are in place to avoid future problems. The proportional withholding of revenue distribution payments will be in effect until the Board has determined that Baylor is in compliance with Conference bylaws and regulations as well as all components of Title IX.

They will hire a Title IX consultant, who will contract for a Title IX training program to be undertaken by anyone even tangentially close to the athletic programs. They will then fire their current Title IX coordinator and hire a new one. As soon as everyone signs off on the training, the monies will be released. Probably won't even be much of a delay in processing Big XII funds.

KWTX reported on Monday that DeMarkco Butler, who was just hired by Baylor a month ago, has been fired after the school learned that he was sending inappropriate text messages to a teenager. For what it’s worth, the individual Butler was allegedly texting is considered an adult under Texas statute.

Baylor director of athletics communications David Kaye said Monday that the school has “no comment” on Butler’s dismissal, which was described as a “personnel matter.”

Butler is already the second person who was hired by new head coach Matt Rhule to be fired. Last month, former Bears strength and conditioning coach Brandon Washington was let go after he was arrested for soliciting a prostitute.

I look at this as a shame for Matt Rhule. I guess it was his hire, I get that, bad hire. So now Temple has sent their last two coaches who I think are both good, Rhule and Al Golden, to distressed and problematic programs in Baylor and Miami. Of course Golden is gone and now Rhule has to deal with all the crap at Baylor. He should have never taken that job when he had a good thing going and many doors would have opened for him at places without all the problems. He should find a quick way out of his contract and a fast train out of Waco.

These guys are probably shocked that this is problematic. Nobody in Philly would care if a coach was getting a little from a working girl or was texting barely legal (but still legal) coeds.

Baylor's new sports: Gang Rape and Dog Fighting

A new federal lawsuit against Baylor University accuses football players of drugging and gang-raping young women as part of a hazing or bonding ritual — and the university of failing to investigate the pervasive sexual assault.

The players often took photographs and videos as they carried out the gang rapes, the suit alleges. It was filed by "Jane Doe," who says she was raped by four to eight Baylor players in February 2012. Her Title IX suit says the school's "deliberately indifferent response" effectively denied her educational opportunities.

The suit also describes dogfighting at football parties and burglaries carried out by football players, without consequence.

Earlier this year, a lawsuit by "Elizabeth Doe" alleged that she had been gang-raped by Baylor players in 2014. She said at least 52 rapes and at least five gang rapes were carried out by more than 30 Baylor players.

Upon information and belief, prior to Plaintiff's arrival at Baylor, members of the Baylor football team had already developed a system of hazing their freshman recruits by having them bring or invite freshman females to house parties hosted by members of the football team. At these parties, the girls would be drugged and gang raped, or in the words of the football players, 'trains' would be run on the girls.

"The gang rapes were considered a 'bonding' experience for the football players.

"Photographs and videotapes of the semi-conscious girls would be taken during the gang rapes and circulated amongst the football players. Based upon investigation, Plaintiff has confirmed that at least one, 21-second videotape of two female Baylor students being gang raped by several Baylor football players was circulated amongst football players.

"Baylor football parties would also feature dog fighting. In at least one of the matches, a dog was seriously injured and almost died.

^ The Lord's tomb just closed. Geez. No wonder folks get turned off by those professing to "promote the Gospel of Jesus Christ and mold young minds to His Way". They found the enemy. It is themselves.
