Not sure why everyone is counting Jennings out. Seems like he always made a big play when he got his shot.

What I love is despite our great ability as predictors, prognosticators, and talent evaluators, there's usually someone who comes out of the woodwork that no one saw coming and has a great year or shows great promise - like Pettaway, and to a degree, McKoy. There was chatter about McKoy after fall camp, but I think he still surprised a lot of people, and I don't know that anyone would have predicted the splash debut Pettaway had when they had to burn his redshirt.

I'm really excited that Holgorsen is designating play calling duties. He's a great play caller, but he's also stubborn and it's hurt us before.

Way too early items of notice:

- Steven Smothers appears to be headed for a redshirt
- Lots of the 2016 class are listed in the 2-4 deep
- Durante is listed as the backup for the Z position behind White
- Jennings gets the nod over Sills at the Y position
- Donahue over Pegues at DE
- Stone Wolfley has been moved to the DL and is 3rd on the depth chart behind Donahue and Peagues
- Looks like quite a bit of talent at LB
- Former JuCo Mike Daniels at left CB with current JuCo Hakeem Bailey backing him up
- Kyzir, Dravon and Toyous at the 3 safety positions
- WV product Pitts 2nd behind Toyous at Bandit.
- Battle at right CB
- Redshirt freshman kicking phenom Jonn Young handling kickoffs (I met one of his personal friends at an Applebees this past summer after she saw my WVU gear)

No he isn't. He was redshirted last year.

No one knows why he isn't listed. He is on the roster but not the depth chart, which may mean suspension. I wouldn't put too much into it until the spring game rolls around.

This time of year is fun to analyze. Always interesting to see the mind games the coaches play in the media and the depth chart with the players to motivate.

Seems to be happening early this spring with Durante and Smothers

Smothers is having issues academically. So is Dontae Angus. Neither will be taking part in spring practice in order to get their grades in order

Also, Marcell Lazard left the team. He is scheduled to graduate in May and could possibly transfer out. Definitely a blow to the o line depth

Yea, saw that yesterday. Bummer, hope they straighten up.

On some of the guys who are absent
(Redshirt freshman wide receiver) (Steven) Smothers is working on his academics. There is a reason why they put student before athlete. Got an update on him this morning and he’s doing what he needs to be doing but until he figures out the student part of it, he’s not going to be the athlete part of it. (Redshirt junior offensive lineman) (Dontae) Angus is in the same boat, plus some. (Redshirt freshman defensive lineman) (Jeffery) Pooler (Jr.) is out there doing something. He’s probably doing some rolls or some bear crawls or something that’s going to make him hurt on the inside. So we’ll leave it at that.

What I like about that depth chart is only 3 sr starters on offense (really 2 cause they rarely use wellman) and 5 on defense with the 3 deep being almost all underclassmen. For a pre-season ranking of 22 there could be some very bright days ahead

Disappointing Stevan Smothers has grade issues. He was one of our top commits two years ago. Extremely worried about our CBs. Feel pretty comfortable with the D Line. I have 0 worries about the LBs and safety's as I think those are our strong points. As for Offense I feel pretty confident at all of our positions.

I think whats been missing on WVU offense the last two seasons, is a real burner, a homerun guy like Alford, Austin, Devine, Slaton, White.
