WVU issued a press release that Brandon Knapper has had knee surgery to repair his meniscus and will be out indefinitely. Huggy said that he is confident Brandon will work diligently to get back on the court.

Gale Catlett retired.

Before Catlett we used to play a pretty competitive OOC schedule. I remember Notre Dame and Syracuse and others.

It was only when Catlett came that we padded our schedule with Stetson and SW NE Missouri County Technical College for the Short in Stature.

He racked up 20+ wins per year, we went to the NCAA tourney and made sure to tell the bus driver to keep the bus warm and fuel up and be ready to travel home in about 90 minutes.

What a great "bench coach" Catlett was. He told that bench to sit there and it never moved.

I would say that with Huggins we actually play a little easier schedule than when Beilein was here.

brob, that's not a strictly fair assessment.

Young Gale Catlett did play some decent OOC teams. It's just that as he got older, the schedule got weaker and he began to rely heavily on his "never had a losing season" mantra - until he did. Then it got even weaker. It sucks to grow old.

Huggy is old...but I see few signs that he's becoming feeble and too tired to compete. It's more likely he'll have a heart attack screaming at a referee than it is that he'll go out needing a diaper change at the old folks home.

With the Feds investigating various NCAA basketball programs, do we have any need to worry?

It's more like "7:30 madness."

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University will tip off the 2017-18 men's basketball season with the Gold-Blue Debut presented by Coca-Cola on Friday, Oct. 27, at 7:30 p.m., at the WVU Coliseum.

Admission to the event is free with gates opening at 6:30 p.m. All fans will receive a 2017-18 men's basketball poster.

A 30-minute officiated game between the Gold and Blue teams highlight just a few of the events that will occur. Other festivities include the introduction of the men's players and staff, raising the 2017 NCAA Sweet 16 banner, a speech from Bob Huggins and an autograph session with the student-athletes following the event on the Coliseum floor.

Additional events include highlight videos and performances from the Mountaineer pep band, cheerleaders and dance team.

You always have to worry when the Feds get involved. There are bad coaches and boosters in most colleges

Hearing Bolden is hurt. With thinner roster, I'm thinking Huggins backs off pressing as much this season.

Huggs said as much in that interview where he talked about the NCAA scandal. He said(paraphrase), "we will always press just maybe not as much". He then went on to say that on some days, these guys act like they love it and WANT to do it all the time." He said, "We'll always be Press Virginia - we've just got to figure out how much."

Can someone recap who is missing from our lineup and for how long?

I can't keep track of what's going on. I know Ahmad is out for half the season, but who else have we lost?
