If we can generate some pressure on defense we have a shot at being in all of those games, now that we have a playmaker at QB and Simms back in the lineup.

Everyone knows I'm a staunch advocator of blitzing the piss out of qbs. Id like to see more blitzes from our D. Our 3 D lineman just cant beat 5 offensive linemen. And when we only blitz one guy its still 4 on 5 unless the O-Line completely misses the blitzer.

Though this doesn't apply to the Virginia Tech game, do you think Gibby is being a little conservative until he gets a feel for the defense, and sets them free on blitzes during the tougher games in conference? I think he might not be bringing pressure right now to kind of help the corners grow up in a couple tune up games. But that's just pure speculation from me.

Ive considered that. And I hope thats what he is doing. Against Tech he only blitzed a handful of times, not ome time when he blitzed did tech have a positive play. I was going nuts in the stands. But I digress. I guess we shall see what the future holds. I hope he dials it up. It would be lame to label your defense DAWGS and not be aggressive. At any aspect. Like when its 3rd and less than 5 and our D backs play 10 yards off the ball and they have an easy conversion. UGH

These 4 games games could easily be all losses but if WVU can win one of these, then you could have a decent 8-4 season. I think TCU and KSU are winnable though.

The other 6 we should win.
Should be wins:
DSU
Iowa St.
KU
Baylor

Should be tougher wins:
Texas
Texas Tech.

WVU has too many Pat Miller type defenders but perhaps Gibby can mold this crew into something better as the season rolls on. That 10 yard cushion our d backs give and the missed tackles isn't going to cut it against any team with a pulse. The Special teams will have to improve immensely or I see 7 - 5 as about the max for this bunch.

Ertz is a poorman's version of Klein. I think you leave 8 in the box against KSU the whole game. I just don't think Ertz can beat you with his arm.

Aside from OSU and OU, the B12 is wide open.

Excellent chance of beating:
Baylor
Kansas

Very good chance of beating:
TT
Texas
Iowa State

Good chance of beating:
TCU
KStae

Poor chance of beating:
OSU
OU

Better add Texas to the list. Absolutely playing their asses off on the road against #4 with a freshman qb.

Yup...their defense (especially their run defense) was excellent all night.
If their offense can get it going they will be a tough team to beat.

Texas pass defense was nonexistent at the end of the game. They have another wonder hamster at QB.

Did you watch the game? Hopefully our players don't go into that game with the same level of arrogance as some of our fans or they'll get their asses handed to them.

We are going to have back to back 10 win seasons after this year. And 10 isnt going to be the minimum for this year.
