His 4.8 40 time is slow. IMO, 4.6 is the cutoff. Todays college game requires a QB that can run as well as pass. Can't win the big ones with a QB who is not mobile and fast.

Only one QB was sub 4.6 at the NFL combine. Watson ran a 4.66. Mahomes ran a 4.8. They were plenty fast enough. 40 time doesn't really make much difference. Its a test of acceleration. Yes, a QB needs to be mobile and display some athleticism. They don't have to be fast

Agreed and by the tape he can run a read option decently well, and seems nimble enough, we don't need a 4.4 QB out there, that's what our skill position guys are for, we need someone who can feel the pocket, and move around when the pass protection breaks down.

I respectfully disagree. My point is, to win the big games the QB has to be a threat to run as well as pass. Watson can likely run faster and his running ability made the difference. Jackson is exceptionally fast and Hurt is fast as well. The college game is different than the pros, which is why I prefer the college game much more.

On 247 it says he runs a 4.6, ESPN a 4.8, so take that for what it's worth. But again, on tape it doesn't look like he has blistering speed but can still run the read option, he made defenders miss, it's not like we have Paul Millard sitting back there. And for every Deshaun Watson, and Jalen Hurts, there's guys like Josh Rosen, Sam Darnold, etc.

Sure the national championship had had Watson and Hurts (still Watson runs a 4.66, you have to take it by time, not the eye test if that's what you're doing for this recruit), and the playoffs had JT Barrett (runs about a 4.5-4.6) it also had Jake Browning at Washington (not much of a runner). Once again, you don't need a 4.4 40 to succeed, you need someone who can make plays with his legs when necessary just to keep the defense honest.

My friend, if we can land someone like Lamar Jackson or Jalen Hurts, I'm all for it. Skyler had plenty of mobility but had issues with the long ball. He ran a 4.97 at the combine. We can win with a QB that executes the offense and is accurate, especially on 3rd down

He had to retire because of a medical issue. There is a topic on him in the football forum.

Miami transfer Jack Allison has decided to transfer to a JUCO instead of WVU. I can understand not wanting to sit out two seasons in a row (he redshirted at the U last year).

I assume he could still end up at WVU as part of the 2018 class, coming in with three years to play.

Sucks for Saunders I liked that kid. And Allison could still end up here but he'll lose a year of eligibility

Well scratch that. A lot of people are reporting there was a change in plans and Allison will be coming to WVU.

The Mountaineers have now brought in a quarterback transfer from each of the big three Florida schools.

Smoking Musket and DA are both quoting the Charleston Gazette.

I'd love to see someone quoting Jack Allison.

He sent out a Tweet in the last hour with a photo of him in a WVU jersey with the word "committed" printed across it.

So I think this is legit.

Redshirted last year. He was a unanimous 4* quarterback coming out of high school and an Army All-American. In his final two years of high school, he threw for over 3,000 yards with 30 touchdowns and a completion percentage of over 60 percent.

Here are some high school highlights.

He may not have done much at the college level yet. But neither did Clint on Skyler, and they both turned out pretty damn good.
