nascar has got to do something with gibbs racing orchestrating the restarts. kyle and matt kenseth today, it was denny and kenseth at daytona, is it going to be carl and kyle next week?

the race was a joke. there was no race. there is no racing anymore. whoever gets the lead after the last restart wins, period. that's your nascar racing now. no matter what track.

and some of them even wrecked more than once. these cars need bigger rear spoilers. that'll settle them down and make the racing better. open up the plate some, also take away the out of bounds rule--that was only implemented after dale's death and now safety is 400% better than what it used to be.

everyone in the nascar camp can pound their chest all they want about how exciting the racing has been with the new package, but whoever gets the lead after a restart- stays there. #rightfrontsuspensionisthesecret

starting next year, nascar is limiting drivers with 5 years of cup experience from driving in the xfinity and truck series. they'll be limited to 10 xfinity races and 7 truck races. they won't be able to race in the last 8 races of either series, nor the dash for cash races in the xfinity series.

what this means, or how i think teams like gibbs and penske will exploit it, is that they can have 1 team per series focused on cup drivers. like the #18/20 or the #12/22 cars in the xfinity series are now. kyle busch, kenseth, hamlin, and edwards can all take turns through the first 23 races or so in the #18/20 cars, while logano and keselowski can take turns in their #12/22 cars.

nascar's plan will definitely work on the last 8 races, but it's still going to cause these cup drivers to race as much as they can in the other 23 races. but fans will get tired of it, as they already do, and not care about xfinity racing after every race in the first half of the season is won by cup drivers.

personally, i think they should limit them more or handicap them in those races. let them qualify for a spot, but don't let them have a pit stall choice, or let them have their pit stall choice, just have them start at the rear of the field. because most of the time, these cup drivers start on the front row and stay there all race long.

the cup series will be sponsored by monster energy starting next year. the 'cup' name may not be used.

nascar is back.

duels sucked. the clash sucked. no attendance whatsoever.
these 'plate' cars need a bigger spoiler.

the cup series is now known as the 'monster energy nascar cup series'. very short and cheap deal to sponsor the series compared to sprint's former deal, but they do have new 'monster energy girls'.. NOT in firesuits.

also, each race in each series will be in 'stages'. first 2 stages of every race will be the same(but the lap count will change from race to race.) when the second stage is complete, the race is 'official'. some races though, the second stage will be over before the race is at halfway, which i think is a BS move.

it's cool though, they're basically turning the desbris cautions into 'stages' and rewarding drivers in the top 10 with 'playoff(replaces the 'chase' name) points. tv can determine when cautions/commercials are like they did anyway. i'm comparing this to the new charter system, which is like the old owner points rule.

i wrote this up on wordpad and just wanted to put it somewhere.

how to fix nascar.

double points races, and 'marquee' races. daytona 500, brickyard 400, coke 600, bristol night race, southern 500. 43 cars get into those races. these races guaranteed to be on network tv.

rotating tv announcers/commentators/reporters.
bringing back the 'speed' channel, or equivalent, with similar programming returning.

keep the current 40-1 points system, expand it to 43-1 in the marquee races. eliminate the playoff/chase.

eliminate recieving a bonus point for leading an individual lap. now only leading 2 consecutive or 3 total laps in an event will count. leading the most laps will still get a bonus point. winner recieves 2 bonus points.
races no longer will start under a yellow flag, and an event must reach over half of the laps of green flag to be considered 'official'. laps that start under green that finish under yellow are considered green. clarify delayed/postponed race details.

35 races. eliminating one from current schedule. every track keeps at least 1 race, 2 races are guaranteed to: martinsville, bristol, richmond, charlotte, daytona, and talladega. rotating other current tracks in so they can have 2 dates at least once every 3 years except for sonoma, watkins glen, and indianapolis. this will allow more non-cup tracks to host a race. schedule rotation changes--moving dates around, not always ending at miami. off weeks after every 7 races(easter weekend is 1st off week, second off week is 15th 'week' of schedule, etc). daytona 500 back to traditional third sunday of february slot.

pit stall selection now randomized. qualifying now only determines starting position.

the leader must announce their choice of lane for starts and restarts, so the field can be set accordingly. if the leader chooses the outside lane, then the 3rd place car will start behind the leader, and 5th behind them, and so on.

eliminate the splitter, and no more 'fake' grills. all cars must have air ducts in front of right front tires, larger spoilers for daytona and talladega.

I'd like to add that the bodies should be reasonably shaped like their stock counterparts (reasonably still to be defined). General size and the shape of the front end should be as close as possible while maintaining safety. Overall size should be very close to stock. In other words get closer to "stock car racing".
Also, add a few more road courses. Way better for TV. Reduce number of circle tracks if needed.
I like the chase, though I understand the beef with it most have.
Dump restrictor plates, the cars are far safer than they were when restrictors were introduced.

i don't think nascar died when dale did, i think it was the accumulation of the him dying + the chase/constantly changing points systems + bad racing + winston leaving + brian france + leaving smaller tracks like milwaukee, gateway, memphis, pikes peak, myrtle beach, nazereth, and irp + jimmie johnson and boring/no personality drivers + stale tv coverage + and the old guys retiring(rusty wallace, dale jarrett, ricky rudd, mark martin, bill elliott, terry and bobby labonte + and everything being for sponsorship/no honest opinions.

example: "yes, welcome back to gatorade victory lane presented by capitol one financial here on nbcsn, here we are with the winner of the jiffy lube 400 presented by flying j here at auto club speedway, driver of the #69 trojan condoms car willie boner".. -takes sip of cocacola- "yes, i'd like to thank trojan, goodyear, moog, delphi, hendrick engines, gibbs chassis, penske trucks, roush air planes, my crew, owner ty hampton, who couldn't make the race today because he's golfing, my wife, my girlfriend, god, tom cruise, and willie nelson.. especially my crew chief who decided to not pit us on that green white yellow white yellow green checker browns to the super bowl black and yellow turquoise polka dot flag, we stayed out and kept the lead, and since whoever gets the lead after the restarts keeps, it put me right here in powerade victory circle in gatorade victory lane.

dale jr retiring at the end of the season.

i knew it was close by his recent comments, but i expected a few more years.

i don't blame him, nascar is a farce it what it used to be, along with chase and jimmie getting the best equipment at hendrick.

NASCAR died when they mandated restrictor plates on the fast tracks so all of the cars would go the same speed. THAT is NOT racing. And when they made all of the drivers look like metrosexuals.

i'm okay with the restrictor plate, they'd be going 240 mph without them, which would be far too dangerous for a race.. however i wish they'd let them qualify without them. that'd be entertaining.

nascar started dying in 2004, and the grave started to be dug with the car of tomorrow. the chase, anti-tobacco when it was sponsored by it for 33 years, too many pretty faces/vanilla personalities/sponsor sheep, changing rules, and boring racing has put the nails in the coffin.
