Mourning the loss...

I'm mourning the loss of some great WVU football games we had recorded on our DVR, which is now totally fried. Dish Network is sending us a new one (free of charge, thank goodness!), but we had some awesome games saved on there that we'd watch whenever we needed a "fix". They're all gone now. All those break-out Slaton runs, Owen smashing through countless defenders (and occasionally smashing his head with his helmet), and most of all, those crap plays that Pat White turned into miracles. I'm especially bummed that I'm going to lose the special Mountaineer Magazine did before Pat White's last game, as well as that game against South Florida. I loved seeing the field covered in snow, sort of like God was giving His stamp of approval to our White Out. We also had saved a clip ESPN did on Owen. It was awesome to watch, even though Barwis talked a lot in the interview.

Anyway, it's a sad, sad day in this Mountaineer household. The new season can't start soon enough. We've got a lot of games to replace.

I guess that was a little dramatic. However, I really am tore up over the situation. My husband was watching the 2008 Marshall game the other night, and now we won't be able to finish it. Bummer.

Record the game, copy it off to VHS and burn it to a disc. I learned that after a power surge toasted my DVR.

Thanks for the suggestion, SaneJane, but now we can't even access the things we have recorded. It's seriously messed up. We'll know next time to follow your advice and at least get everything copied to VHS. *banging head*

Yea, if the data on the HD wasn't corrupted, you can remove the drive from the DVR and hook it up to your computer using an e-SATA cable.

FYI - You an also expand your DVR memory by purchasing an external e-SATA hard drive and plugging it into the connection on the back panel.

I have quite a collection of games on my 1TB HD.. although I lost a couple myself from last year's season (at Cincy, Rutgers and the Gator Bowl). The guy who was posting most of the games at WVUtorrent had to stop because of copyright infringment, I think. So I know what it's like to lose some of those games... wishing I had 'em all!!!
