Someone on scout is saying WVU to the ACC. Luck is expected to put out a statement at 3:00.

Seems like more message board chatter.

Nothing more nothing less.

I can say I ate lunch with Ollie today and he told me we were joining the PAC -12 and it wouldn't be anymore true.

I guess we will see if this has any legs at 3.

I heard we were going to the Canadian Football League. They pay money there, and after all -- IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY.

Please speculate about our future conference affiliation here. There are now seemingly 1000 different WVU to SEC, ACC wherever threads.

Future ones will be merged or deleted.

No $$$$$$ clue. I am hoping for the SEC - but right now the ACC looks better than the BE.

My best guess, if it comes down to SEC or ACC, would favor the ACC.

* Best chance for immediate football success. We could possibly win that league this year, and next year for sure.

* Keep Pitt, SU and Maryland rivalries and renew old ones (Miami, VT, BC.) Plus you get UVA as a bonus. We used to play them a lot, I think.

* It's like they said in the Blues Brothers: "We're puttin' the band back together."

* Better fit geographically. Less travel for non-revenue sports.

* Better basketball conference; good for recruiting.

* Just to piss off Frank Beamer.

Well if half the BE school go there then it would be a better BB confrence. Really they only got 3 or 4 good BB schools right now.

Yes we use to play VA alot and they were decent back then. Looks like they starting to be decent again now.

We would just about have the old BE football teams bck together.

All in all I hope WVU goes to the SEC so every week would be like a bowl game.

ACC is easier for me to go to away games too and Mountaineer Nation and basketball stays a heck of a lot more fun. If I'm ACC I want UConn and WVU to make the top 16. The basketball becomes the undisputed top dog again (they hate playing second fiddle to BE in bball) and the football gets 4 respected programs. One heavy (WVU), one with tradition, old and recent, just not super recent with NY market presence and money (SU), one with money to spend on football, academics, facilities, recent success, great location and markets (UConn) and PITT with tradition in the 60's and 70's, supposed academics, above average football, and no fans. But the East would be sewn up in all sports. This to me, is the smartest play for the ACC, always has been and was what I expected many months ago. I would love to see this play out, frankly, as a fan. Because I know these schools the best, dislike them the most, they are geographically convenient and make a great product package. HELLO EASTERN SPORTS IN THE NEW MILLENIUM. EASTERN, not just southeastern, not just coastal eastern, not deep south, EASTERN. This would be eastern sports, post rust belt, in the new age. Think the TV money and marketing could be very very good long term.

"The Big East talked about positioning itself for its next media-rights deal, but has since watched from the sideline as other leagues have made bolder decisions. The botched attempt at bringing Villanova into the ranks earlier this year only underscored the fact that the Big East really had nobody leading the charge to secure its future."

Good article. Makes you wonder what in the Hell the decision-makers in the Big East were thinking? The writing has been on the wall for years and it's just like they were hoping it would all go away. Whatever. The Big East and Big 12 are history. Let's move forward...

Rumor has it (I know, I know...) that the ACC is in talks with UConn and Rutgers to complete its 16 team roster.

My personal opinion is that we will find ourself in the SEC at some point in time - as a 14th, 15th or 16th member.

Things are going to happen, and they are going to happen fast.

Oddly enough...West Virginia and a few other schools were the first to throw around the idea of a football superconference. I remember reading about it a few years back. This would basically have included all of the Big East football powers..plus Notre Dame and someone else.

Of course whether or not the person who wrote this up was blowing smoke out their ass then is subject to great debate.

Seems like Big East basketball was the linchpin that kept it from happening as some of the schools got cold feet at leaving the Big East to start their own basketball conference too.
