the press conference happening at 3 didn't happen. nor did the one at 4. we were supposed to announce we were going to the acc.. now it's official, we're going to the sec.

I thought that when the ADs or presidents at cuse and pitt were spouting off about the academics in the acc and all the research that goes on there during the teleconference was all a load of crap. This is about football, tv, and money nothing more nothing less.

Yes, it would be nice. However, I can't help but wonder if Ollie knows it's all in the bag and he's just waiting for the right time, or maybe he has been asked to keep it quiet for now. Either way, he's one cool customer.

BTW...Anyone know why Marinatto was at OUR game yesterday? Could he have been pressuring Luck to stay in the Big East? Or was his presence one big coinky dink?

Marinatto can't pressure Oliver Luck into doing anything. What's he going to do? It's not like he could threaten to take his balls and go home. He doesn't have any.

It especially sucks for tcu. Of course, it'll be a lot easier for the road to the Big East championship to run through wherever tcu is without so many pitstops.

I think TCU will more than likely land somewhere in one of the power conferences. USF, Cincy, and UL better hope for a 5th power conference to emerge.

Maybe he just likes good football. I wouldn't be surprised if there was something behind his visit. Have you noticed that no other schools have come out pledging support for the conference?

Because every single one of them is looking for the first ticket they can find to the Big 10, ACC, or SEC.

The music's playing and there's only so many chairs.

Agreed.

I think they are in wait-and-see mode right now. The Big 12 is the best fit for them so they might be waiting to see what Oklahoma (and thus Oklahoma State) do before bailing on the Big East.

Oklahoma and Oklahoma State are still the big triggers waiting to be pulled. If they decide to keep the Big 12 together then we better hope that we still get an invite to either the SEC or the ACC because the pickings to build up the Big East again will be very slim.
If the Big 12 hangs together, I would imagine that the Big 12 would try to lure TCU over and I wouldn't blame TCU for accepting.

I don't see that much difference with a merged BE-B12 for them. B12 was trying to lure Ville and Cincy anyway.

The merged BE-B12 will still be a BCS conference. No one is losing a chair.

seriously though, let's stop creating threads on every bit of new news. 1 tweet can spawn 3 threads. why not just put them in this thread..

Add Uconn to the list of ACC applicants...

I really don't think we are going to the ACC...why would that be a big secret when no one else has been ?

We are either going to the SEC or staying around for a BE Big 12 merger.

well, I'll throw this fat in the fire. ND is really ticked that Pitt and Cuse made a decision that was to the detriment of the rest of the group.

I did not make that up.

On top of the BE-B12 merger is what ND does if anything to maintain the resulting merger as a viable BE, which remains a high priority to them.
