So while at fan day I got a pic of my kid with Kyle Bosch, my fav player currently and probably top 5 all time. I tweeted it to him and said thanks. Flipping through twitter today and see he used it as his twitter profile picture. My kid still hasn't come down to earth. https://mobile.twitter.com/Kyle_Bosch65

Way cool. I was tickled when Reed Williams took a pic with my son after the Muffler Bowl.

Edit: That's really cool South. I was a bit worried when a younger Bosch showed up but he has really matured the past two years. I can't help but like the guy now.

West Virginia QB Will Grier leads nation in ‘deep passing yards’

Quote:
When West Virginia Mountaineers quarterback Will Grier attacks a secondary, odds are he’s going to do so down the field.

Through three games, Grier has developed an impressive downfield chemistry with his receiving corps. It’s become apparent on the stat sheet, as he leads the nation with 544 deep passing yards, as detailed by Pro Football Focus.

|Will Grier leads all the nation's QBs with his staggering 544 deep passing yards – 140 more than Mason Rudolph's 404, which is 2nd-highest. pic.twitter.com/YxfI36sFiE

— PFF College Football (@PFF_College) September 18, 2017|

Oklahoma State’s Mason Rudolph ranked second in this category, and he trails Grier by 140 yards.

Pro Football Focus considers deep passes to be at least 20 yards downfield, and Grier and the Mountaineers have done plenty of that throughout their nonconference slate. Through three games, six receivers already have receptions covering at least 20 yards, with David Sills V leading the way with a 75-yard touchdown catch against East Carolina.

Gary Jennings began the season with a 60-yard touchdown reception against Virginia Tech, and Marcus Simms went 62 yards to the house against Delaware State.

Pair all of the above with what Grier has been able to do underneath and he’s up to 1,027 yards passing with 11 touchdowns on the season.

West Virginia (2-1) will open its conference slate on Saturday against Kansas and a Jayhawks secondary that ranks 124th in passing efficiency defense and 112th in total passing yards allowed.

I was thinking about 10 years ago today, WVU had started season with ranking of 3, and 3-0 about to take on East Carolina, A bunch of experts had WVU and USC in NC game. Rich Rodriguez had turned down Alabama and was prob. the hottest coach with his then innovative offensive schemes. People were calling him a football genuis. At that time I was thinking WVU would finally win a National title, if not in 2007, then at least certainly in the next few years. Even without Pat White and Steve Slaton down the road Rodriguez had already almost sealed Terelle Pryor then the #1 QB recruit and #4 overall (ESPN recruiting), plus they would have Noel Devine back. The future looked bright.

Who would of thought just 3 months later everything would have blown up. 10 years and still no title. The program at one point during the absymal 2013 season looked to be in shambles. Rich Rodriguez now a has been, struggling to survive at Arizona after a dismal showing at Michigan.

I used to compare WVU to the Cubs, but now WVU is alone bc the Cubs have a World Series Title. This gets me to think what the next 10 years hold. I think alot of fans would not be quite as optimistic as we were on 9/20/2007. The road to a National Title now seems so far and near impossible with the current system and our current roster and recruits.

I mean though those are all valid points, I still think that's a pessimistic view. I think anything has the possibility of occurring, just think of how choatic 2007 was in general as a season. The football team could very well find themselves in a situation to get a couple lucky breaks one year. We're trending upwards now, picked up a 10 win season last year, our class this year is pretty decent, and I think we're finally getting some stability with Dana extending a contract, and Gibby looking like he'll stay for a while. We're in for more 4 star recruits this year, and if we continue to perform at high levels I don't see why we wouldn't be able to garner more and more top athlete interest. The road to a national championship is hard, grueling, and usually requires a ton of 4/5 star talent, I don't think we're there yet, but I still think we have a good enough chance to get there one day.

I didn't read Jameschi's post correctly... I am not buying:

National Title now seems so far and near impossible with the current system and our current roster and recruits.

I like what we got - college football is a tough world and winning 10 games with a mediocre quarterback is saying something... I believe we would be 3-0 this year if we had had Simms for VT... time will tell.
