Assuming Grier comes back next year I feel we have a legit shot at the B12 title. No Mayfield, no Rudolph, should be wide open. Plus Tennessee and NC state should be solid OOC winnable games.

Since the College Playoff system started, and not that it was a huge difference from BCS but the trend has been the teams that have won the NC have a roster that is basically at least 1/2 5 star guys. Ohio St, Alabama, Clemson.

That extra game just makes it harder for a mid tier team with not as much depth to win that second game. Teams like Michigan State and Washington, alot of times they get a decent amount of 4 star guys and with great coaching can overachieve but even if they got past 1st game against a most likely superior talented team with great coaching, they now have to face that second game with same talent and coaching.
I feel WVU if running on full steam could reach the levels that Washington or MSU did to make playoffs.

Fl St could be 0-5 and would still be receiving votes.

Looks like someone else had to learn the hard way, from Coaching Scoop:

Charlotte: The 49ers, off to an 0-4 start, have made a change within their staff. Head coach Brad Lambert has taken play calling duties away from Jeff Mullen and promoted offensive line coach Greg Adkins to OC. Mullen will continue to coach the quarterbacks. In three games against FBS foes this season the 49ers have scored just 14 points.

I'm not so sure Spavital was a good move. Dana was finally starting to get a clue about helping your defense with clock management. Spavital doesn't seem to have that clue yet, and with a young banged up D we are really going to need it down the stretch.

Dana had a nice balance to his playcalling. But both of them call stupid **** in the redzone.

Agreed, 100%. Against better teams, this will kill you.

Well...so far, we're 3-1, Florida State is out of the Top 25, and Yuengling is on sale for $9.99 per 12-pack at Giant Eagle. It's all good.

AND ADD THIS TO THE MIX:

Meanwhile, West Virginia returned to the Top 25 for the first time since the preseason rankings, coming in at No. 23. The Mountaineers took care of business against Kansas. Their lone loss came against No. 12 Virginia Tech, which is rolling. As usual, West Virginia has an explosive offense. The question marks are all on defense. They allowed 34 points to the Jayhawks, which doesn’t bode well for their chances against Oklahoma, TCU or Oklahoma State. Regardless, it’s nice to be ranked again. The ‘Eers are a blast to watch.

WVU just out of the top 25 in the polls, but 6 point favorites over # 23 Texas Tech.

4 and 5 stars two deep on the D line. That seems to me to be the dominant trend in the championship game.
