That didn't take long. One day of minicamp? He must have pissed somebody off, or something.

Nice update on Stedman. Someone had asked in another thread if he was still working with the (WVU) team...apparently not. Working out in California and hoping to be cleared by his neurologists to make a comeback try.

Latest report out of Eagles camp not good for our guys.

Rasul Douglas

Douglas stood out in spring practices by being around the ball and knocking down passes. He’s cooled off since then. Douglas just doesn’t look like a player who’s ready to play a majority of the team’s defensive snaps this season. I know there’s been an argument to stick him out there and “let him take his lumps” but you also don’t want to destroy the player’s confidence. And he needs to earn his playing time. You don’t just award it to someone because they’re young.

Shelton Gibson

I’d be surprised if Gibson makes the roster at this point. The practice squad should be in play, but based on merit I wouldn’t keep him there. He’s dropped way too many passes. He’s been the worst out of the eleven wide receivers on Philly’s roster.

Good read about Keith Tandy, who looks like he'll be starting at safety for the Bucs this year.

"What we learned about Keith is that Keith is always ready," Koetter said. "He does a great job with his preparation and he made plays. That's what you always want from everybody. Keith is working with the first group right now and he's going to be a hard guy to get out of there."

2. The live periods on Tuesday brought a little juice to training camp. The standout on offense was second-year running back Wendell Smallwood, who was seemingly looking for contact early in the live periods. He made the most of his first-team reps while Blount was out.

Smallwood had a few big plays, but the most impressive thing was his competitiveness. During 9-on-7s, he didn't try to run around Jaylen Watkins; he tried to run through him.

4. Carson Wentz, after two spectacular days, came back down to earth a little bit on Tuesday. He wasn't bad, just inconsistent. He threw an interception to Watkins during the first 11-on-11 session and then in a situational 11-on-11 period, he threw a terrible pass into double coverage that was picked off by Rasul Douglas.

5. Johnson and Bryce Treggs (remember him?) both had very good days. They made the most of their extra reps with Jeffery and Smith out on Tuesday. This is nothing new for Johnson. He's looked good all camp and is seriously pushing for a roster spot. At this point, he's miles ahead of draft pick Shelton Gibson, who continues to drop passes each day.

6. During cornerback vs. wideout 1-on-1s, Nelson Agholor made a really tough catch against Jalen Mills, who was all over him.

Last year's training camp darling Paul Turner made a nice move around Rodney McLeod.

And Gibson actually made a nice play too, burning Robinson on a deep ball.

LOS ANGELES -- Los Angeles Rams general manager Les Snead believes Tavon Austin "definitely has a place" on his team, even though it feels like the offense already has moved on without him.

On Friday morning, the Rams worked out a trade with the Buffalo Bills to make Sammy Watkins their new vertical threat on the outside, a role Austin previously was supposed to fill. Watkins rejoins his former Bills teammate, Robert Woods, to make up the Rams' primary receivers. Their slot receiver is Cooper Kupp, a rookie out of Eastern Washington who already looks to have solidified a role.

But the Rams stress that they'll find a place for Austin.

Tavon Austin will cost the Rams $15 million against the salary cap this season, but just $5 million next year if they cut ties.

"Tavon is a fast kid," Snead said from a charity luncheon in downtown Los Angeles. "Jimmy Johnson probably said it best, long before I was in football -- speed is important. So having fast people on your team, you never have too many of those."

Austin signed a four-year, $42 million extension weeks before the start of the 2016 season. But he gained only 668 yards from scrimmage that year, which actually represented his second-highest total in four seasons. The Rams then brought in a new head coach (Sean McVay), signed a primary receiver (Woods) and traded for another (Watkins). They also have selected seven wide receivers and tight ends in the last two drafts.

Austin, meanwhile, hasn't been able to get on the field.

Wrist surgery in the spring made him a spectator while the Rams went about their offseason program. The 26-year-old was a full participant at the start of training camp, but a hamstring injury has kept him out of practice for the last 11 days. And it's hard to envision his role once he returns.

Austin always has made an impact on punt returns, but he has hardly ever been an ideal fit on offense. His blazing speed screams vertical threat, but his height (5 foot 8) does not. Former Rams coach Jeff Fisher used Austin mostly as a gadget receiver the last four years. He made 75 of his 181 catches behind the line of scrimmage and carried the ball 125 times out of the backfield. His best year was 2015, when he gained 907 yards from scrimmage. But unless Austin supplants Kupp as the slot receiver -- seemingly unlikely -- it's hard to see him getting the snaps to produce like that again.

He still can return punts, be on the field on four-receiver sets and perhaps even emerge as an option out of the backfield -- but his role won't match his pay.

On the bright side he got $30M guaranteed. Hoping he can find a new home if it comes to it. The Rams have not had a decent QB since Tavon got there.

Or, it gives him a tag team guy. He was never considered a volume guy. I also hope he can get to NE to play in thete offense. I think he'd fit well in their scheme.
