Commissioner Bob Bowlsby announced today that Kansas has been stripped of its Big 12 championship and the title has been given to Villanova, which defeated West Virginia, Texas Tech and Kansas on its way to Monday's national championship game.

"I'm sure they'd have beaten the other seven teams as well," Bowlsby said. "I had no other choice."

The best team in the country. NBA Kentucky, number 1 Gonzaga, and now clear best team Nova.

got a chance to see a few of Trey Doomes' games in the national championship tournament

he plays with some big time talent on his team...their Center and PF are really, really good HS players. But Doomes fits right in, he is not out of place on the court with the most talented players in the country. That's a great sign to me. And he wasn't some 2-bit role player, he is one of his teams' key contributors.

He didnt have a great game in the national championship, but his team was overmatched IMO.
What we're getting next year is a super athlete that can run up and down the court with anyone we'll come across. Doomes will not be intimidated going into Kansas or lining up across from any of the blue blood programs.

I think we may be able to "Jevon-Carter" (yes I used that as a verb) Doomes into another elite college PG.
He doesn't have the intensity and focus that Jevon Carter does, but he has better ball handling as a freshman and is way more athletic. Doomes surprised me with his vision--especially getting out on the fast break--and he is an excellent passer and I mean "excellent".
Doomes will have to work on his jump shot, but I would almost bet that Huggs is eyeballing him as the next PG.

I say that not only from watching Doomes, but also bc:
--Bolden will never be a PG IMO. He just doesnt have the mindset, and we need his shooting at the #2 anyway
--Im still not sold on McCabe. He's not going to be able to get away with a lot of what he gets away with in HS. To me, Doomes is competing with players on an entirely different level and he's proven he belongs there. Im not sure about McCabe yet, but I hope he surprises me

Right, I think Doomes will be of use in his first season, I'm thinking more Tarik Phillips type player.
Not sold on McCabe at all, especially the way Huggins wants his guards to play. In his highlights I was hoping to see a guard with NBA 3 range, bc with his size he will need to launch threes like Trae Young did, way o/s. Maybe I'm wrong but I just does see him being able to get his shot off in the Big 12. JUst too small and slow. I hope I'm wrong.

We ended up number 13 in the final AP poll. I'll take it! :)

Especially since the preseason practice game against Purdue was a double-digit loss and the first regular season game against A&M was a blow-out loss.

Maybe the feedback he will receive will inspire him to be a better and more consistent player next year.

Ya that and for having giant hands that they talk about every game, he sure does lose handle of the ball a lot.

A couple pieces about WVU signees Mister Basketball Wisconsin, Jordan McCabe and his sidekick Trey Doomes.
Both of whom tore it up in a Florida Tournament for elite teams and players.
