UPDATE: Nathan Adrian's dad, Kevin, HAS received a heart transplant, is awake, coherent, and talking. Your continued prayers are appreciated.

That is terrific news. Thanks for the update. Any word on how Nate has been handling this?

I read an article last week that said he walked for his diploma but needed 3 hours over the Summer, which he apparently just completed. So, it appears he has been finishing up his degree at WVU. It didn't mention that he had signed or was negotiating or trying out with any professional team.

Anyone else hearing about drug suspensions? Apparently it was Elijah (maybe why he left) and Esa. Some are saying Esa will need to sit out for 10 games to start the year.

The suspension might actually be a half of a season. Now it is making sense why Macon left.

What warrants half a season? NCAA or school mandated?

The penalty for a positive test for a substance in the street drug class is withholding from competition for 50% of the season in all sports in which the student-athlete participates. A second positive test for a street drug results in the loss of a year of eligibility and withholding from participation for 365 days from the test.

The penalty for testing positive for street drugs, including marijuana, will be reduced to half a season from a full season. Street drugs are not performance-enhancing in nature, and this change will encourage schools to provide student-athletes the necessary rehabilitation.

Yep. They *apparently* failed an NCAA drug test after the Gonzaga game. If it was a school piss test, it may be different. I'm not sure.

There's an article on Blue Gold Sports confirming it.

Well. He was trash half the season last year anyways. So maybe he will come back and play only good games the last half ?

Lamont West, 11.9 minutes per game, most experienced front court player returning to start the season. A lot of young guys are going to get a lot of minutes early. And Konate has to learn to stay out of foul trouble.

Hoping its 10 games or less. Half the season would be huge hit. Read the NCAA penalty on failed NCAA test used to be full season, they reduced it to 1/2 season a year ago.
So full season not including post is about 31 games. So I guess it could be 15 or 16 games. Way too harsh for positive on marijuana.

The schedule is tough too, with first game of Texas AM, then you have Pitt, Virginia, Kentucky, Plus Advo Care tourney where you'll prob play one or two other legit teams.
