Try Roanoke or stay around Bluefield and drive in in the morning. His is just shots in the dark. Just guesses.

Bluefield would probably be cheaper "some". I remember last year I had to do some family stuff in DC and had to travel up I-81 from Bama. It was the same weekend of the Bristol race. Wytheville hotels IIRC were around $300. Blacksburg is closer than that, so I assume the rates are bad too.

I need some help from those who have experience going to games at VT. I will be there rooting for their opponent if it helps (My girl's team).

Any recommendations on places to stay that are close enough to make travel easy but outside of town enough to avoid paying a ton for a hotel? Really, any advice regarding things that I'd have to do while there or that I should see would be appreciated.

Thanks all.

I live in Salem, VA about 30 minutes from VT. There are some small motels around here you could check. Or as Southie suggested Bluefield or Princeton. Princeton is about an hour down 460 from VT.

OU dismisses 4* 2017 QB signee Chris Robison

First-year OU head coach Lincoln Riley announced Wednesday night that Chris Robison has been dismissed from his football program. The only reason given for the dismissal was an unspecified violation of team rules.

The development comes nearly four months after Robison, along with walk-on defensive back Ronnie LaRue, was arrested for public intoxication. It’s unclear if that arrest played any role in the quarterback’s dismissal.

A four-star member of the Sooners’ 2017 recruiting class, Robison was rated as the No. 7 pro-style quarterback in the country; the No. 29 player at any position in the state of Texas; and the No. 173 recruit on 247Sports.com‘s composite board. As an early enrollee, Robison took part in spring practice and played in the spring game, completing 3-of-5 passes for 49 yards.

Roughly 12 hours after that game, he was arrested for being drunk in public. Because of only what were described as “personal reasons,” Robison wasn’t enrolled in summer classes and didn’t take part in football workouts during the same period.

Oklahoma took a hit to its wide receiver corps this week.

Coach Lincoln Riley announced Saturday that Nick Basquine suffered an Achilles tendon injury that will cause him to miss the entire 2017 campaign. Riley said Basquine went down without contact during practice.

Basquine, a redshirt junior, was expected to be among the Sooners’ top group of wideouts in 2017. The former walk-on played in all 13 games last year with two starts and finished the year with 20 catches for 265 and two touchdowns. He had the best stats of the team’s returning wide receivers.

Eh they had white players auctioned too, it's a fantasy draft, for fantasy football. It's probably not the best of ideas, but it's not as bad as everybody is making it out to be. That's coming from someone who is a minority

Wow, 30 years ago when I started playing rotisserie baseball, which was the beginning of fantasy sports, all drafts were auctions. I guess we are all racist for being in fantasy sports

Rich Rodriguez sued again! This time it is by a former agent. Here are the other lawsuits:

--A suit by a bank against RichRod and investors over a bad real estate investment deal in Blacksburg.
--A suit by another bank against RichRod and other investors for another bad real estate deal in Tuscaloosa.
--The suit by WVU against RichRod over his buy-out.
--A suit by the people who purchased RichRod's house in West Virginia over a water damage defect and other matters.

That's a lot of legal fees!

VERY strong 2nd quarter by USF lol. Regardless. All of the games today were 20 times more exciting than the mayweather fight.
