So it doesn't matter to lose to unranked teams with a sub 500 record as long as you can beat other teams who have also lost to unranked teams with sub 500 records? Last year OSU didn't even make it to the conference championship and they made it in. So apparently winning your conference doesn't matter unless you're in the Big 12. The committee is a disgrace to college football.

Hear, hear. What a goddamned joke. A fvcking popularity and money contest.

I've been bitching about this since the first year of the playoff. The Big 12 was forced into a conference championship game...for what?

This whole committee thing was probably the brain child of the money folks, primarily ESPN. It is a bunch of BS as you saw with OSU getting in last year and then getting hammered. They are still today trying to find a way to push a Big 10 team in. In retrospect perhaps the old BCS system was better than this stupid committee. I agree with Leach, there should be a playoff system with at least 16 teams. Everyone of the bowls and TV people who control the money are afraid it will upset their easy revenue stream and control over the best revenue venues to place the teams they want where they want for the most money.

...and let us add that this dubious quality OSU team which apparently "earned" the ability to be in the playoff couldn't muster a single point.

You MUST win a conference before you can be national champion.....that should be a rule.

So Pitt beat Miami. Big effing deal. Pitt still finished 5-7 and can't even go to the Barf-o-Brady Bowl this year. Maybe they need to look at the big picture.

Reminds me of the DB who makes one good tackle, gets up and dances, and then gets burned on the next 10 passes thrown his way.

Pitt has talent but no discipline and no heart. They're good only in a spoiler role. They seem to excel at that. Watching Narduzzi take credit for 13-9 almost cost me a good Samsung TV last night. If they were better coached they could do something with their talent in that weakass conference.

And the majority of their fans STILL come to the stadium dressed as empty seats.

A conference game is another test that challenges the team to defend its ranking. The game adds experience to the team players and this opportunity to get hands-on experience was a good thing. The Big12 woke up to the need for a title game, late but now understands the additional media money generated is a smart move and builds fan appreciation when all the other conference entertain their fans with extra play. What was the Big12 thinking; as we all know it is all about money, just dumb management.

On the downside playing an extra game may generate injuries to star players so this must be weighed against the opportunity to let your Heisman candidate shine. Adding the championship game was a smart move and showed how stupid the Big12 management was in thinking that is was unnecessary.

Big12 is not even as smart as the Big10 and is always playing behind the curve compared to the Big10, who controls the game. However, if the Big10 and its cronies mess with Alabama this year and deny a one-loss (away loss to a great team) team over a lousy two loss (home and away loss to a mediocre team) then they will be causing an earthquake within the SEC, who will cause changes to be made. No way the SEC will allow OSU take the 4th spot with the way OSU is playing this year. I think if OSU is admitted then we will see an expansion of the playoffs to include a playoff game into the CFP, like baseball does.

I will protest the CFP games, except Oklahoma as this crap of even thinking a allow OSU play in the CFP is total nonsense.
