WVU lost to VPI in women's soccer for the third time in three years -- 2-1. The two teams were close in the polls. WVU was 10th/12th and VPI was 11/13. A penalty kick about 2/3rds of the way thru was the deciding play.

WVU scored an early goal to go up 1-0 against 5th ranked Penn State in the 7th minute. Then there's been a two-hour lightning delay.

The #5/8 WVU women play #15 Ohio State at Ohio State. They're looking for their 6th shutout in 7 games. WVU has given up 8 shots on goal in 6 games and has the nation's best defender.

0-0 in the 55th minute. WVU has 13 shots, 1 on goal. OSU has 1 shot, on goal. WVU needs to shoot better.

WVU won 2-0, the two goals within a minute of each other with 15 minutes to play. WVU shot better at the end, with 6 shots on goal total out of 23.

They have a tie. They just tied Oklahoma this past weekend. I think 10-1-1

EDIT: Big Game coming up against Baylor and then maybe home free for our 4th Big 12 regular season championship

women's soccer is 2nd in one poll and 3rd in another and hoping for a long run in the NCAA tournament. With one game left in the regular season, they're guaranteed at least a tie for the regular season Big 12 title. Led by Kadeisha Buchanan, selected most promising young player at the summer World Cup, they have 12 shutouts in 16 games, conceding 5 goals all year.

10 WVU players were honored by the Big 12 -- 5 first team, 4 second team (including co-Freshman of the year) and another freshman on the all-freshman team. In addition, Kadeisha Buchanan was defensive player of the year and Izzo-Brown was coach of the team.

A starting senior defender is out for the season with injury or WVU would have had yet another player on the list.

WVU lost 1-0 to Texas Tech in the semis. WVU was ranked 2nd in the country before that, and had a chance to play all its NCAA tournament games at home until the final four. Now, they'll probably drop several spots and have to win some tough away games to reach the final four.

WVU is a 2-seed. They'll play the 1st two rounds at home. The third round is against a 3-seed, if form prevails:

The 3-seeds are North Carolina, Notre Dame, California, and Duke. WVu will probably Duke or Notre Dame, since the NCAA tries to minimize travel.

The fourth round is an away game against a one-seed, probably Virginia or Penn State if form prevails. WVU defeated Penn State earlier in the season in Morgantown.

WVU cruising in 2nd round NCAA game -- up 4-0 against NW. They've broken their single-season record for goals, and will break their single-season record for shutouts if they maintain this one. Chances are goal -- NW averages a goal a game -- not known for scoring.
