Mine is hanging. Wanna see pics?

Also, happy summer solstice. The longest day of the year. I hear it's even longer if you're married.

The only day longer than summer solstice is one spent at a swim meet

The longest day of the year, WITH a full Moon. Felt like it was broad daylight till 9:00 pm.

My grandmother would always say on the Fourth of July, with a sigh, "Well, Summer's half over". Which is kinda correct social-wise and not true with season calendar-time sticklers.

Ok, here's mine Shark, post yours!

Great book. Highly recommended. There's a writer working now named Ann Pancake. I assume they are related somehow. Her books are also great.

Different Pancake family...D'J was from Charleston area and Ann was born and raised in Romney, eastern panhandle.

Looked at Wikipedia earlier. It says Ann is a distant relative of Breece. Either way, it would seem that the Pancakes are creative people. Ann's most recent book is a short story collection. Some lovely stuff but my favorite work of hers is a novel, 'Strange as This Weather has been.'

Has anyone read 'The Ballad of Trenchmouth Taggart' or 'The Marrowbone Marble Company' by Glenn Taylor? Top notch WV literature.

Also of note: 'Crum' by Lee Manard & the works of Denise Giardina.

HuffPost article on WVU's MLK National Service Day program.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/chris-h ... -not-off-_b_14192426.html

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. famously stated “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: what are you doing for others? “ For many people, it’s a day of remembrance for his contributions to the civil rights movement; however, this is simply not enough. To truly fulfill Dr. King’s legacy, it must be a day of service where we venture into our communities to pay it forward. It is our duty to make MLK day a “Day On, Not A Day Off.

The federal government has spearheaded this initiative as a part of United We Serve in conjunction with the Corporation for National & Community Service and The King Center. This initiative asks for all Americans from all backgrounds to collaborate to provide solutions to our country’s most critical issues.

Some colleges and universities are really leading the effort to make this a day of service. Forty universities nationwide received grant funding from the Campus Compact to expand service programming for MLK day. West Virginia University is among one of the forty universities to receive funding. Leah Cunningham, Operations Coordinator at West Virginia University’s Center of Service and Learning says “This national service holiday is a great opportunity to become involved. It provides students a chance to travel outside of Morgantown, and experience one of the best things West Virginia has to offer... its people.”

Students will be volunteering in Charleston, Grafton, Fairmont, and Morgantown, West Virginia. Cunningham anticipates over 100 WVU students to participate amounting to 1,000 service hours.

According to a report relayed by John McClain of the Houston Chronicle, the Texans are planning to open the 2017 training camp in West Virginia.

If the deal is finalized, it will be the first time the Texans have trained anywhere outside the team’s training center at the Reliant Park complex.

Per the report, the Texans will take the training camp to the beautiful Greenbrier Resort in the West Virginia mountains. It’s one of the most breathtaking locales in the United States, with clean air and all sorts of activities aside from the recently completed football and training area.

And gotta be a big bump for the local economy after last year's floods and Greenbrier Classic cancellation. Still saddened by what I saw on my way through there last summer headed back to Florida, stopped and did half a day of volunteering.

Last night my daughter got her notification that she was accepted to WVU in the Engineering Program. I am very excited and proud that she may follow in mine and her mother's footsteps.

Next important date for her is April 22 when she will audition for "The Pride".

As a result that will mean I get to return more often to the Morgantown area over the next 4 years.

West Virginia University will tear down Stansbury Hall, the historic building where Jerry West played basketball in the 1950s, and construct a new business school complex on the site.

The announcement came Friday, on the day of the school’s Board of Governors meeting, after months of hinting that the college might get a new facility. Bob Reynolds, an alumnus of the school, and his wife, Laura, donated $10 million for the school, the initial funding for the project, according to a news release.

“About five years ago, we began talking with folks at the College of Business and Economics and the [WVU] Foundation about B&E’s vision for the future — and how we might be a part of that,” Bob Reynolds said in the release. “Now we’ve come together on a vibrant plan for a new business school building and other amenities that will revitalize and transform Morgantown’s waterfront. This is a plan we’re proud to support.”

In honor of the gift, the new complex will be named in the Reynolds’ honor and will sit at the heart of downtown Morgantown.

Wasn't the business school the building that was built where Old Mountaineer Field used to be? What will that building become?

Yes, it was the new building on the left coming from the Lair at the beginning of the turn. I don't know what the plans are for it.

Dr. John Campo and Rhonda Campo are leaving Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center, becoming the most recent in a string of leaders exiting Ohio State to follow former university president E. Gordon Gee to West Virginia University.

Dr. Campo has been at Ohio State since 2006, most recently serving as chairman of the university’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at the Wexner Medical Center.

He will serve as an assistant dean of behavioral health and wellness, chief behavioral wellness officer and professor with the West Virginia University School of Medicine at the Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute in Morgantown, West Virginia.

His wife, Rhonda, who is listed as Rhonda Stolec-Campo on Ohio State’s website, is associate executive director of the James Cancer Hospital at Ohio State. She will serve as associate vice president of strategic development, commercialization and innovation at WVU’s Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute.
