Jim aka Stanley sent me a response text about 4 am this morning and said he would be back in the states in the next week or so and would get in touch with me then. He apolgized for not doing so last time he said he would. I will report anything I learn to the board.

If nothing else, get him to give you and me admin authority so we can re-open membership and fix some things. I know people who are web designers who should be able to help.

Will do!

Shouldnt he be able to access shit from India or Dubai and do that any time? I mean, he does work for Microsoft.

One would think.

I talked to Stanley today and he is going to try and pickup the website work again. He is back in the states and said that Xoops that the site is built with is not great and needs many updates and fixes so it is particularly cumbursome to work with to fix things. Just changing the poll requires a complete shut down of the site. He is hopeful of making some fixes himself so that it can be reopened to new members.

Fingers crossed!

Stanley...

Your moderators stand moderately ready to moderate the site moderately well. Bring on the new members...in moderation, of course.

This is very moderately exciting news! We are all furst and farmost all Mountaineers of course. With that said, I'd like to take this opportunity from all members of TOS, both the singular ones and the recent bilaterals to offer modicums of success and well wishes on the reboot of this monolithic fan site!

Offering any help I can, I love reading this site throughout the year. I worked with the previous owner on a migration from XOOPS to other platforms so I already have some knowledge on the subject if you are interested.

There's a lot of power in X OOPS. Use it wisely.

Who would build anything using something called "xoops"?

We need a site support program called ... "duct tape!"

Once, during a fit of boredom and despair, I started playing around with a new banner for the website. I came up with several designs, but this was my favorite. (Click to enlarge)

Or maybe it was this. I forget.

Not that this means anything.

Sane,

Its to the point that the people who perpetrate these conspiracies in our world are monitoring the soap box for new ideas.

Precisely why I stay away. I'm trying to pretend that all of us WVU fans share something good in common.

Ok ok. I'm back and will get started on cleaning things up. I will be moving off of Xoops but have some clean up to do first. I can't commit to a timeline yet for when I'll have things moved to a new platform but will keep the thread updated in the meantime.

First thing I'm doing is purging the user database of spam accounts that were created before I shut new sign ups down so that these don't get moved to the platform as well. Unfortunately there's no fully automated way to identify spam accounts. I'm starting with deleting those users that have never made a post but I'm finding a number of those that are clearly real, but apparently shy, users. If i accidentally delete any of these accounts I do have a backup and can restore. Just contact me at stanley.wvu@gmail.com
