Welp. Coach Seider is going to be the RBs coach at FL. So wonder what our options are?

He was a good recruiter, but he sure as hell couldn't coach Shell up.

I was expecting this to happen with Spav coming in. Seider probably wants to be OC someday and that just wasn't going to happen here for whatever reason. I have also heard the Gators wanted him, and they pursued him a few years back.

This will be somewhat of a blow with recruiting. But to be fair, our Florida recruiting kind of sucked this year. We only pulled Sinkfield and McDougle from the Sunshine State. I know that was his main area. Dana was pretty short when Florida recruiting came up yesterday during his press conference. Maybe there was an issue.

I will be interested to see WVU hires. I have liked Dana's recent hires with Wickline, Spav, Tyron Carrier and Blue Adams.

To be fair, we did have back to back 1,000-yard rushers in Crawford and Smallwood. And Sims broke 1,000 in that awful 2013 season.

I remember in a couple of games this (last) year Dana really screaming at Seider - I starting wondering how great their relationship was - on the other hand Dana would put his arm over Gibson's shoulder and smile...

I really hope we get someone to recruit down here. 18 of Rival's top 100 were from FL this year. I agree Seider didn't seem to do as good a job as he usually does, though we haven't been as strong since the Miramar pipeline dried up.

The top 30 in the Tampa Bay area (not necessarily a hotbed) all went to major college programs, 5 of them to Indiana

We can't lose the Florida pipeline. Doc built this up 20-30 years ago and we've maintained it ever since. Whoever replaces Seider needs to have FL roots, or we could potentially lose our hot-bed.

We pulled two kids from Florida this year and one last year. Florida hasn't been much of a hot bed for us lately.

I think this is a big loss for WVU and a very good pick up for Florida. Recruits in FL. need to always be a priority for this program and perhaps the next hire will get the job done.

Don't forget the Seider went into Detroit and got Pettaway and went to Lousiana and got Bush. He wasn't just going to Florida. He was opening up new recruiting areas. Not sure that the next coach has to have roots in florida. I think we'd be better off getting someone that can recruit Maryland/Virginia/PA. I think being in the Big 12 hurts our Florida recruiting. Tough for friends and family to get to home games let alone away games. If we got more kids from the surrounding states at least they'd have access to home games.

Everyone recruits Florida and are pretty much fighting for leftovers once UF, FSU, Miami, etc. take their pick. Judging by interviews with Holgy, this staff is focused on getting the most bang for their buck. Why spend 200 man hours trying to recruit a few kids in FL only to be caught scrambling when they go to UCF, when you can spend 50 recruiting a kid in Georgia or Virginia that you like just as much. Holgorsen doesn't strike me as the kind of guy that likes to kiss a 17 year old's ass either. In regards to recruiting, he frequently mentions "the right fit." To me, right or wrong, that translates to equal parts "He's a man" and "I didn't have to beg him." I don't know if we can be a contender without a few 5* players here and there. Bob Huggins seems to be bucking the trend in basketball so who knows.

I think we're still a few years out from 5 star recruits anyways, we'll probably gather a couple 4s in the coming years, and then maybe a few years down the line a 5 star commmits. You never really know what's going through a 17-18 year old's head, and our program is getting better and better. There's a bright future ahead guys, even with Seider leaving. Next man up, we have a good recruiting team already, so I don't see this being as impactful as other do.
