Lost the game and possibly a starting pitcher today. Rubber match tomorrow.

No pitching depth. That's gonna hurt.

It looks like they need to regroup. Got knocked around again. 11-4 bad guys.

The good news is WVU has a starting pitcher. The bad news is I haven't heard of him:

Kearns, Isaiah. Apparently, ERA around 5.88. But, the Va. Tech pitcher has an ERA of 8.28, so there's some hope.

WVU rallied for 6 runs in the top of the 4th to go ahead 6-5 and still leads 7-6 after 6.

WVU 4 OU 2 in the completion of the Friday game. WVU was down 2-1 in the 5th when the game was postponed until today because of lightning.

WVU had trouble knocking in base runners. They had bases loaded in the 1st without scoring, and 2nd and 3rd one out in 2nd without scoring (1st and 2nd no out). In the 6th, they had bases loaded no outs and finally scored by hitting into a double play.

Team showed its youth again this weekend. Tough losses to mediocre Oklahoma team.

Felt sorry for Manoah, or whatever his name is. A few weeks ago, he was cruising until the 5th or so and walked a batter badly. The coach immediately yanked him, and the relief staff gave up 5 runs.

Against OU, he was coasting until the 8th with 14 or 15 putouts in a row, when he walked a batter with one out, gave up a double (runner to third), and put another runner on 1st first bases loaded and I believe 2 outs. Coach left him in, not trusting the bullpen, and he gave up a grounder just inside the third base line for a bases clearing double.

You're too harsh on OU. They've played terribly, but were highly ranked early. I believe they lost at least 2 pitchers who were back against WVU. So, they're much better than they were a few weeks ago.

WVU won, although they made it close.

Up 3-1 in the bottom of the 7th, WVU got runners on 2nd and 3rd with 0 outs. A sac brought in one run, but an attempted bunt was lined to the pitcher's feet. He caught it and threw to third for a double play.

In the 8th, the WVU reliever started with a walk. Then he gave up 3 hard hit shots, sandwiched with a wild pitch. Fortunately, two of the flies were caught at the wall. 4-3.

WVU didn't score in the 8th. In the 9th, the WVU closer gave up a lead-off double. He then struck out the next 3 batters, the first two in 3 pitches each.

Garner-Webb stranded 10 runners.

Big game against UT today. If WVU wins, they finish 3rd in conference. If not, 4th. Also, a win today and good performance in conference tournament might get let them host a regional. 16 teams host and WVU's RPI right now is 17.
Before the start of the series, WVU was in a 3-way tie for 4-6 and it seemed likely they'd finish tied for 5th.

WVU (4) was the highest seed to win a game. TT (1), TCU (2) and OU (3) all lost.

Four teams remain: WVU, OSU, Texas and winner of TCU-Kansas tonight.

But Texas and OSU have the easier paths to the championship. They rested today and need to lose twice tomorrow to be eliminated. WVU and the other survivor from today need to win twice tomorrow to advance.
