This year was a fun season. I loved the way the kids played hard and fought in each game.

In the end (last night) our main weakness foul shooting ( The two misses) and poor shooting from the floor did us in. But give the Zags credit, they played outstanding half court defense, and their size affected our shooting inside (missed a lot of easy shots)

Next year we lose a leader and a great back up.

Remember this the league will improve. The wins will come harder.

May everyone have a great spring and summer.

Well not everyoneπŸ€πŸ€πŸ€πŸ€πŸ€πŸ€

I really think next years team will be better ! West and Sags should be much better, Bender will begin to contribute and we have four starters back. Back up guards is my main concern.

I am definitely concerned about depth next season. The talent is great. I just don't know if WVU will have the quality depth we had this season.

We have a pair of JUCO forward coming in, Knapper coming in from a prep year and Teddy Allen from high school. Who knows how much they will contribute right away. Hopefully they pick things up and grow into their roles sooner than later.

Culver's grade issues are a concern. If he can't make it here next year, that takes away a guy who could fill Sags' role from this season. Having another big body – I have seen him listed as big as 6-foot-10, 230 pounds – would be nice.

Next year's group of sophomores (Sags, Harler, Bender, West, Bolden, heck even Logan Routt) need to grow up for WVU to have success. Not saying they were bad this year. They will just need to be better.

I think we'll be fine.

We're losing Nate/Myers/Phillip/Watkins. These weren't supremely talented players, they were program guys.

The fact is, none of those guys had the talent to step up against the tougher competition, but they had the experience that Huggs' trusted.

Next year I think we'll be more talent and a little less grit.
I really hope Culver works out.

I saw on a pay site (which the article I read was free) where Culver will most likely be going Juco or Prep school next year. The article was discussing next years team and the new comers. Knapper seems to be the best player coming in. Pretty excited to see how everyone matures. Hope Beatle turns out to be the guy We all think he can be

Watching the Oregon / Kansas game. We are so far behind offensively. We have no scorers . Maybe JC , but these teams have 3 or 4 guys that can score. Oregon would kill us.

Oregon would not beat us. Our defense would murder them.

Sorry, but weren't you the guy who started CAPS typing "stick a fork in us - we're done" with about 17 minutes left in the Gonzaga game? If I'm wrong, somebody will probably look it up and correct me but I'm pretty sure that was you. I was disgusted by your comments then and feel much the same about what you've added since. I love WVU too ... but I don't bail on loving WVU at any sign of bad weather. I root and believe and get disappointed. I've always hated those people who chuckle and sneer and say, "They're always gonna break your heart." Screw them.

One day...

We've got something good going here. I've hated on Holgy...but he's become a pretty darn good coach. He learned from hiring his buddies and almost losing his job. He is surrounding himself with an excellent staff and I like the recruiting that has been going on.

Huggy. If you don't already know who/what Huggy is...my words would just be wasted in telling you.

Future's so bright...gotta wear shades.

We dont have anyone on our team like Oregon's Dillan Brooks or Tyler Dorsey, either of those guys can get a good shot any time they want it.
Forget South Carolina, they got an even better draw than we did. They'll get crushed by Gonzaga. Oregon is legit, and UNC is damn near an NBA team. Gonzaga is what we can be--maybe not full of NBA stars, but a legit great TEAM year to year.

Next year, we're going to get the Jevon that we saw over the last month. But it's the other guys that need to step up to meet him at that level.

How to close the gap on these other teams:
--Esa: He can be a matchup problem vs. anyone in the country if he develops his jumpshot.
--Dax: He needs to embrace his role as slasher, and work on catching and shooting. He's great off the dribble, but struggles to catch-and-shoot.
--Macon: Continue developing confidence scoring in the post. He couldnt get a shot to fall vs. Gonzaga but he was consistently getting good looks. I see big things from Macon next year.....finally.

These are our leaders next year, and we'll be counting on them big time.

Beyond that:
--Bolden: If he steps up his defensive game, he can be a big contributor on offense, maybe carrying on our tradition of winning 6th man of the year
--Lamont West: If he gets a little quicker, he will be a scoring machine

We ranked 21st in the country in scoring, ya donk...

A statistic that is skewed by our early season domination of overmatched opponents.

Our half-court set offensive efficiency has to be one of the WORST in the nation.

Other teams have the pushover games as well, not just us. In conference we still scored a lot. This was the most points put up by a WVU team in school history. I will agree they did look a little scattered on offense at times, but somehow they normally still scored.

Best I could find was offensive efficiency and that was 31st in the nation. I can't really see being near the bottom...there were 351 teams listed. I think it would be fairer to say that we showed really well sometimes and really poorly at others. Hell, the final 25 seconds against Gonzaga, I saw JC dribbling like a madman and 4 other players standing motionless and hoping that he'd drain another one. That's not bad offense, that's 20 year-olds freezing in the biggest game of their life.

Well then, by all means, continue spouting off baseless drivel, like you know what you're talking about...
