What's the story on Esa Ahmad? Seeing reports he may face a lengthy suspension.

Check the WVU basketball thread for things that don't need their own thread. It is in there. Yes. It appears he will have to sit half of the season. Macon was the other player that was going to be suspended and we surmised that is probably why he turned pro.

One could opine that this deserves its own thread. I can't really predict any more what will or will not be a thread.

Well Mitch McGary of Michigan was facing a one year suspension for failing NCAA drug test, he decided to leave for NBA back in 2014. They have since shortened the suspension to 1/2 a season. I'm assuming Esa is appealing the 1/2 season suspension. If it was the school like WVU that administered the drug test like with Holton back in 2015 then the suspension would prob. be only 3 games.

Personally I feel its much too harsh for marijuana considering several states its legal. I could understand if it was performance enhancing steroids but weed would actually make you play worse. 3 game suspension sounds about right to me.

Maybe Jeff Sessions will get hired at the NCAA. Sounds like a good fit to me.

Its not legal in any state in the US. They can pass all of the laws they want at the state level. US laws supersede local law. At best you can say the law isn't enforced.

We hype them up, cheer them on like crazy, get them all in a frenzy...and then expect nineteen year old athletes to take a deep breathe and be back to normal after a game, tournament, or a Huggins practice. I say give them a Gatorade and a joint after each game...

He was back to normal after the game. He got stoned like normal kids do.
The penalty for weed should be between the coach and the kid.

Well this could be like 2010 when Huggs swept in and got Ebanks, If Culver doesn't qualify. Actually not sure WVU has an open spot but I think the Huggs would find a way to make room for this guy.

Should be an open scholarship if Culver's not going to make it
