I'm not buying it. If they were doing it out of respect for what happened, then why publicize it? Those are supposed to be the types of things you do quietly to not cause a commotion. ESPN did the exact opposite. They made the decision and then publicized it. Their intent was to make an issue out of it, and possibly pat themselves on the back in doing so.

I'm mean for real, how many people would have even noticed if Robert wasn't the person announcing on game day? It's not like the guy has a huge fan base. He is a parttime announcer for goodness sake. It's obvious that ESPN's whole intent was to make an issue of it.

Not that I really care. ESPN has been pushing a left wing agenda for a while now. I just ignore it and watch the game. They serve their purpose to me either way.

They have to say something. They already announced that he would be doing the game earlier. I remember when they announced the broadcast pairings for various games earlier in August. Now realize that I don't really care about that kind of news but if you publicize them then change them you probably have to make an announcement.

Had they just moved him someone would have noticed and made a big issue about it. This was a no-win thing from the start.

I do agree they insert themselves into the story by announcing in the beginning of August who will do games because none of us really cares who is jawing about the game. I can either stand them or I can't. If I can't stand them I turn the sound down and watch the game without sound.

Actually, there was a 3rd decision. They could have decided not to play identity politics/virtue signalling and not remove him because of his name. That seemed as if it could have been a win.

If someone is offended by an Asian American doing the game who happens to be named Robert Lee, who cares?

The answer is ESPN must be terrified of the left and it's ability to boycott and pressure advertisers to pull out of media they find not in line with their messaging objectives. ESPN is struggling financially as people unplug and they are way behind in alternative media. They have no choice but to tow the line.

ESPN might want to do some research into just what a "Cavalier" is.

They might be surprised to find out.

If I had to guess they picked the very last one(Dancing partner). Ha-ha.

This is a good one: USC's white horse mascot Traveler is now being identified as a racist symbol of White Supremacy because is has a similar name to Robert E Lee's horse "Traveller".

What the hell is wrong with liberals? Seriously. I'm not trying to start a soapbox argument. But I dont see conservative institutions doing this crap. Its a damned horse. Universities beed to quit babying students, who are grown adults. If a statue, flag, Asian guy, guy riding a horse offends and triggers you, liberals really should stop wearing clothing that is made from cotton.

Exactly, it never ends. It's like termites. They are never full. They just devour and devour until the integrity of the whole structure is degraded. The house could fall in and they will still be looking for something to devour. Social parasites is what they are. They are the type of people that would go around the country committing all kinds of politically motivated violence, and then call another person's action just as hostile as their own terrorism. Selective memory is a beautiful thing. Well until it bites you where the good Lord split you.

What happened in Charlottesville was horrible. Racial bigotry is a degenerative ideology. All this media attention is only keeping things stirred up and encouraging more to come.

Once it's all said and done we'll probably have to have our teams named after trees, or something else totally stupid.

ESPN has a problem with an Asian man named Robert Lee but are okay with a president that has Hussein as a middle name.

You should live here. They tore down 4 statues in Baltimore, 1 in Frederick and 1 in Annapolis and Roger Taney wasn't even a Confederate. He wrote the Dred Scott decision, but it was a 7-2 Supreme Court decision and he was applying the Constitution as it read in 1856. The part about slaves being 3/5 of a man for representation was not taken out until the 13th Amendment in 1865. What the libs don't know (or care) is that he freed his own slaves and defended the Africans who mutinied and took over the Amistad.

They want to change the state flag, the state song, and take Confederate markers out of Antietam and Monocacy battlefields. What were the Yankees doing, having a picnic on a sunny day? Then they want to change the names of 2 building at the USNA because they are named for Buchanan and Maury who, after being Superintendents there, resigned and joined the Confederate Navy. Neither on ever owned any slaves. They want to take Lee's name off the building at West Point. He was honored as a former Superintendent.

It's never going to end.

Wow. Liberalism truly is a mental disorder. They blatantly disregard history - even when you spell it out for them. They want to believe their feelings rather than documented facts, especially the civil war history all of a sudden. On the left, it was literally only about slavery 100%. I wish they would take the time to read and learn about the truth rather than acting on their emotions. Why didnt their black president advocate to take these statues down? Pelosi has been in for over 30 years. Why is she just now wanting the statues taken down? When the Nazis took control of Poland and other Warsaw nations, they destroyed statures they didn't like. When the North Vietnamese communists took over the south after the American evacuation, they destroyed statues and monuments they didn't like. When the Taliban came into power in Afghanistan, they destroyed statues they didn't like. When ISIS started taking control of areas in Iraq, they destroyed statues they didn't like. Now, liberals that are in control of major cities in America are starting to remove statues they don't like. Notice a trend?

Dear ,Joedaddyski

No ... the Cavaliers were the mounted henchmen of the King of England. They were the Royals sent out to collect the "rents" from the serfs. They cared not what tactics they used to beat the serfs in to submission. Hence the term cavalier attitude. The feeling of caring about no one but yourself. They were NOT nice people. They were in fact the embodiment of Royalty and privilege.

Maybe it's just me and my weird sense of humor.

But there was one statue of Lee in Baltimore that this little housewife was so proud that she "decorated". The police wouldn't let her hang banners from it so she placed a "2nd Place - Participant" banner around it. She also placed a banner that said, "You lost - get over it". She was so proud!

The next night it was painted white with vulgar black graffiti all over it.

With my sense of humor, I noticed the inscription at the bottom of the statue:

"Those that fail to learn history, are doomed to repeat it."

I snickered.

Makes you wonder why a statue of a southern general is in a northern city.
