The Wisdom Gap

The USA has a very big problem right now and it is due to a very large Wisdom Gap.

Look at it this way. Consider these FOUR things: Education; Intelligence; Experience; and, Wisdom. Think about each them. How to you acquire them? How do they interact?

Education you get in variety of ways, through books, or from a mentor/educator. In other words, you learn from others. The more interested you are in something the more attention you pay, and the more you learn. You can be educated by schools, by more experienced elders, etc.

Intelligence you are pretty much born with. It is the ability to solve problems. It is WHOLY independent from education. It is sometimes referred to as common sense or street smarts. With intelligence you can problem solve on your own and become educated on your own. There are MANY people who are educated but not intelligent. And, there are many people who are intelligent but not educated.

Experience is just that. You can’t fake it and you can’t take a short cut. You learn through experience by living your life. You learn from your own mistakes and you learn from the mistakes of others. You don’t really have meaningful experience until you are at least 45 years old (and it might even be more like 50), although, no one can tell you this when you are younger than 45. You think you have already seen everything and know everything.

And finally there is WISDOM. Wisdom is achieved through the combination and compilation of ALL of the above (education, intelligence and experience). The more you have of all three, the more wisdom you gain. And, conversely, the more you lack in any of the three, the more you lack in wisdom.

And now for the problem. We have arrived at unique place in American history. Because of the explosion of technology the youth in this country actually believe that they have (in their own minds) surpassed their elders in WISDOM. The youth have risen to positions within our society, our industries, and our politics prematurely. They lack the wisdom necessary to understand fully what is happening around them. They have been brain washed by liberal, progressive, socialists but they lack the wisdom necessary to realize it. They won’t realize for a decade or two how much WISDOM they lacked in their youth. Worse yet, they are also the largest portion of our population and growing larger every day.

Let’s hope this great Nation can survive the current Wisdom Gap.

Apples-to-apples....wisdom is great!

Applying your apples to my apples...wisdom is opinion. Context matters.

But I do have to admit, that was a lot of words.

Because your wisdom doesn't include social media it is better wisdom? Nope, I don't agree.

Not endorsing social media as a legit source of info. Just saying today's youth can't think as simple-mindedly as SG. They have to wade the minefield of disinformation online.

No ... social media is just another medium on which to seek an education. It is up to you to use your intelligence and experience to filter through social media to decide whether it is fact, opinion, propaganda or a combination of all three. The more experience you gain, and how your intelligence processes social media will determine how it applies to and grows your ultimate wisdom.

Your post proves my point.

Social media is mainly a place where adolescents (of any age) post narcissistic self-advertisements in an attempt to make friends via the internet.

A thank you to the University of Pennsylvania for adding more support to my argument.

https://www.annenbergpublicpolicycente ... constitutional-provisions

The people in the survey, presumably, are intelligent enough to understand these concepts, but they don't have enough life experience to realize that they are receiving an incomplete education.

They think they are receiving a complete education, but because our public schools have been taken over by the progressive socialist leftist fascists, our children are receiving an incomplete education.

They will eventually realize this sad truth as they age and gain experience.

As this process progresses they will slowly gain WISDOM.

In the meantime we are left with the situation that this study bears out.

PS - Illegal immigrants only have due process rights. Due process does not equal amnesty. Obama should have known this since he was a Constitutional Law professor ... but ... I digress.

Speaking of universities and professors. Gotta love liberal professors saying believing in hard work is white ideology.

Bump.

Still relevant.

Boy wonders Ben Rhodes and Tommy Vietor. Douches Obama had running this country in to the ground.

Still relevant and the silent left cannot defend such a blatant and ignorant ideology.

I have been delaying posting this out of respect.

But, after the mass protests, the time is right.

The students that are protesting don't realize they are being used by the progressive, socialist fascists to promote their attack on the Second Amendment. The students are so brainwashed they don't realize they should demanding their Constitutionally protected Individual Right and Individual Freedom to protect themselves (or have their parents, guardians, etc., protect them).

Instead they are protesting and asking the very same government that failed them to do more to protect them. THAT has never been what America stands for. The USA stands for the individual having the rights and the government staying out of the way.

They are so quick to want to give up their Constitutional 2nd Amendment Rights. What's next? Give up their 4th Amendment rights to the government through the FISA Court??? Give up their 1st Amendment rights because some one is offended and proclaims that your speech that simply disagrees with them is actually hate speech???

The slippery slope has begun and these students lack the WISDOM to see what is really happening.

I don't doubt they are intelligent. But, the education they are receiving is tremendously skewed progressive socialist fascist. And, they don't have the level of experience yet to see the forest from the trees.

Add it all up and they are lacking the WISDOM to fully grasp the entirety of what is going on around them. When they grow up and have children of their own they will understand.

Until then ...

They seem to understand 2A jurisprudence better than you. They also seem to understand the principle that the people are all in this together--that we should work together for the common good. I know that probably sounds like socialism to you, but it isn't. It just seems that way because you are so far right it is hard to see you any more. I grew up in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and was taught the principles of our Constitution, including how government should work for the common good. You are borderline anarchist in your approach to government, and that doesn't fit in with our model of government. This isn't a free for all.

There is a difference between working together for the common good, and demanding that others lose their God given rights as defined in our Republic’s Connstitution. There is a reason we have a Bill of Rights, so a person or group of people can not legally infringe on those established rights. To go against anyone of those individual rights, is to go against the fabric by which our Republic was built on.

They are forcing the students to do this. Baltimore schools spent over 100,000 dollars to bus kids around but their schools dont have any heat. Kids in California are being forced to protest. They are tweeting about it. And the kids that are protesting FOR the 2nd amendment are being escorted by the police to leave... Who have guns.

Also, what is this "common good"? Disarming the citizens?

The citizens need guns. I bet the citizens under Mao, Stalin, etc wishes they had guns with which to protect themselves. The cities with the strictest gun laws have the most gun deaths. The worst mass shootings in the world were not in the US. But countries with the strictest gun laws. It's that simple. Im all for regulating guns away from criminals and mentally ill and unstable individuals and "problem" individuals. But leave the law abiding citizens alone. There are more deaths from teens driving, and texting and driving than gun related deaths. Why not regulate the sale of cell phones and automobiles to individuals over the age of 21? There are no texting laws in almost every state but that doesnt stop most drivers. Citizens need guns to protect from a tyrannical government otherwise you will see another Mao or Stalin.

Which way is the gap?

Phuck, I don't know. My 6 yo grandson can work a smart tv better than me. Kind of understands what DNA is, knows that "grays" are us, just influenced by space, and loves to watch Ancient Aliens with me. He knows that if you add salt to water that conductivity increases and a bulb gets brighter.

Kids are a brain sponge. You just have to get them involved with neat cool techo stuff.
