I hear wearing a windbreaker helps.

Good luck and stay safe. If that thing makes it to the gulf and up the west side of Fl. I have a feeling it's going to make a mess.

Yup, stay safe and leave if necessary but the forecasters are pushing the storm farther to the East so it wouldn't surprise me if by the end of the week they have South Carolina as the landfall area.

indeed - the new updates put it back on the east coast of FL and up into SC ... which is exactly what the track was a couple days ago before Irma put a zigzag move on the defenders... er I mean predictors.

We have friends that are vacationing in the Dominican Republic. The had to be relocated, but made it through ok. I have friends and in-laws located in southern Fl. Much prayers are being said for everyone down there. Couple that with the family I have in Houston, and we've had a number of weeks of great concern. Hopefully hurricane season will chill out soon.

Pretty nervous on the west coast. They've moved the path more to the west a couple of times in the last 24 hours. Grocery and hardware stores are nuts. Trimming trees, cleaning up everything out of the yard - plants, pots, furniture, lawn ornaments - leaving the WV banner to the last minute. Start boarding up windows tomorrow.

All prayers are appreciated.

DanG - Chop, Illegal block in the back, illegal use of hands, whatever it takes. You're gonna get it worse than me, though, I'm afraid. You're not in an evacuation zone, are you?

And JBolt, you got things under control?

Y'all stay safe. If you're where it floods keep a battery powered sawzall, circular saw or axe to get to the roof. Once you're there use white spray paint and spell out help on one side of the roof and "Let's Go!!!" on the other side

P.S. Keep in touch if you can once you're safe.

P.S.S. If you're in the eye watch out for the backside of that SOB. I here it can be nasty.

We have decided to stay. I would rather brave a storm instead of the crazies on the road.

We are in East Pasco County just north of Tampa. With Irma continuing to track West it depends on if/where it turns before I decide whether to board up the windows; they are already made and takes about an hour to put up. Our house is a standard Florida cinder-block structure. Besides that we are stocked up on food, water, gas in the car, propane for the grill, flashlights, first aid supplies, emergency radio, back up batteries for our phones, and BEER; never forget the beer. Everyone has overnight bags packed in case we need to bug out.

We are far enough inland that we don't have to worry about surges. If Irma does hit us it will probably be down to a Cat 2.

We have lived in Florida for 18 years; thus is not our first rodeo. Still, if Irma just keeps going West it won't hurt my feelings.

Thanks for thinking of us.

Be safe!
