I agree with you but, I still believe it's backfiring on the protesters as well. What the conversations are really about are whether or not it's disrespectful to kneel during the anthem. Social injustice is always stated as the reason for the protest but the ensuing conversation is not about that at all. It even appears to me that the bigger this gets the farther it gets away from that topic. I've said from the beginning that if Colon Krappynick really wanted change, kneeling and doing nothing is the least effective way to accomplish that.

JJ Watt and his hurricane relief fundraising are a much better example of a prominent figure using their status to make things happen.

I think that the only people straying from the original protest topic are the folks wailing that it is disrespectful to the military. The players doing it specifically say that is not the case but nope, not good enough for the right wing that know better.

I was about to agree with you about Kaepernick not backing up his talk until I read about his charitable donations from another post. That's pretty good stuff as well. No disrespect to JJ Watt...good stuff right there.

I do give CK credit for the financial donations. That's a good thing. However, that doesn't exactly scream "social justice warrior". That is why I referenced JJ Watt. Not only was he raising money ( a lot of money) but, before a dollar of that was even spent he was on the ground making things happen. He was gathering resources and getting things done. That is how you make things better.

Daniel Colby Cushman, "Dani D" from American Pickers has a Go Fund Me account set up for Puerto Rico. She is raising money and collecting donations. She and her boyfriend have arranged for transportation to deliver supplies to the hardest hit areas of the island. She is physically participating in making a change and getting it done.

Donating to causes is a good thing but, our very own government is living proof that you just can't throw money at something and make it better. It takes determined, competent people committed to the cause to make things right.

In regard to the message. I know that the players kneeling are staying on message. However, the rest of the country, including the media are only discussing who's right and who's wrong. They are not discussing "the why".

NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING, is more divisive for a US citizens to do than disrespecting the US Flag, the National Anthem and all of the brave soldiers that fought and died protecting that Flag and our freedoms.

Those, like Godell, Brady, Kraft, LeBron and others that think what Trump said was divisive could not be MORE wrong!

The First Amendment and apparently the NFL Players Union Bargaining Agreement allows the players to take a knee.

And the rest of us have every RIGHT to JUDGE that action.

I think you are pretty divisive....

Yea. These days, believing in individual rights, individual freemdoms, lower taxes and the smallest government possible is very divisive. Throw in a belief in the Constitution, as written, and the progressive socialist leftist fascists hate you.

It's still We The People, right???

Or is it We The Federal Government???

Democrats care more about The VPOTUS leaving a Colts game than they do about Harvey Weinstein abusing women for decades.
