I have WVU going 21-9 overall.
The OOC is not too tough, the AdvoCare, will prob. bring a couple Power 5 oppts, but both will be winnable, It will prob. be Marist, Nebraska, then St Johns. I have team winning all OOC till Kentucky. Virginia will be tough, but have them at home, then Pitt which lost to Navy. So 10-2 OOC.
Then prob. 11-7 in Big 12, which will prob 3rd or so in league. Have Kansas marked down as two losses and ISU, OSU as four wins. I think we get 6 seed in tourney.

I feel like we may transform into a legit contender when Esa comes back, but maybe a few rough patches until then.

You can never pencil in a win against a rival like Pitt, and I am not so sure about Kansas being locks. We should have swept them in the regular season 2 years in a row, 2 years ago Carter missed a free throw FTW and we all remember last year at FOG should have closed that out.

21-9 sounds about right with maybe an Elite 8 but it just depends on seeding and matchups. 2 years in a row we lost to a team that went to the NC game.

Am I the only one who remembers that Esa was garbage except for like 4 games last year?

I guess I saw a player who showed glimpses of how dominant he could be. He is the best forward we have.

I've even said that he has shades of being a Joe Alexander type player. He's shown that he can be pretty damn good. But he just doesn't show up every, or most games.

Pretty sure he was our leading scorer or at least close to it, and only consistent guy we had inside.

My fears are the same as they have been the last few years.
There is no offense there without breakaway layups created by the press. Only 2 guys can shoot, and they unfortunately can't do much of anything else. This means a lot of pine time for them. In order to do anything, they need to come up with a sustainable half court offense that is more than dribbling around and throwing up a low percentage, highly contested 3 as the clock expires and praying that it goes in.

Yea, Esa seemed to just disappear at times during games last year.

Maybe, now that he is a year older, he will realize that he needs to be more aggressive and be one of our MAIN leaders. He can't sit back and wait for Carter to do it.

Anytime WVU plays a team with a "pulse" (especially on the road) they will lose. They look good against the "who is this school?" teams. Kentucky and Kansas are automatic loses, Baylor, Pitt, Virginia most likely too. 18 - 12 is about right for this bunch.

Uhh... sPitt was blown out by Penn State by 30+ points & also lost to Navy. Kentucky is barely getting by these "who is this school?" teams & lost a close one to Kansas. Huggy always gets the best out of each player / team he coaches. Only 4 games have been played so I think everyone need to pump the brakes a little bit. These games are on the schedule for a reason. It allows WVU for this example to gel as a team & gives the coaches an idea of what rotations will work. Anyways, this team can easily get to 20-22 wins. Senior leadership from dax & carter will carry us further than a lot seem to be giving us credit for. Not saying we wont take a couple on the chin throughout the season, but its a marathon not a sprint.

I appreciate your prompt reply and I hope WVU wins every game but I am sticking with my prediction of 18 - 12. I have played and watched a ton of basketball thru the years and I truly think winning 18 of 30 games may be a chore for this team. As you say this squad will "take a couple on the chin throughout the season" I am not sold on the leadership you mention from Dax so be prepared to take more than "a couple on the chin throughout this season." In Dax you trust, certainly not me.....Miles has great athletic ability but putting his game all together has been an issue. Lets see what happens and we will match our predictions again in March.

The thing you always got to remember about Dax is he may be frustrating offensively at times but he always plays good fundamental defense.

They have more of a chance of winning 18 of their first 20 than they do of finishing 18 and 12. You are way off. This team is good and barring injuries is going to be really good come February.

OK we are going to see what this 2017 team is made of as WVU is going to play a "team with a pulse" vs. Virginia on Tuesday night. WVU will have the home court advantage but UVA is 8 - 0.

I am very interested to see what Las Vegas will have for the opening line on this game. WVU - 2 points is my prediction.

Here are the UVA results so far and future schedule, they have played a bunch of cupcakes.

I was just hoping Carter would be as good as last year, but somehow he's actually improved his game significantly. I think prediction of 23-9 is fair. 12-2 OOC, with another loss to Kentucky, and 11-7 conference record.

Those teams with a "pulse" just keep losing to us.. 8 straight wins, Advocare champs & just beat an undefeated / top 15 UVA team. It's not to late for anyone & everyone to actually buy in on this team. Young squad with senior leaders. Get behind this team & enjoy sPitt hate weekend! LETS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!
