I just want things to stay the same.... ESPN Radio is just saying how programs like Tennessee will never get the Jimbo Fishers and Chip Kelly's.... so if Tennessee can't get these coaches with their facilities and $ - we would at best get a lateral hire.... sometimes schools luck out with young new coaches, but there are no guarantees... I think Gibby will always be a great coordinator but I am not sure of head coach ~ I am not sure he would want that position... WVU being in the BIG 12 and located where we are causes extra unattractiveness for coaching positions. Huggs and Holgs have extra stress preparing for and traveling to away games and recruiting....

We have THIRTEEN defensive linemen on our active roster and another 3 on the inactive.

3 SRs; 4 JRs; 2 SOs; and, 4 FRs.

And we can't find four starters and four second teamers to go to a four man front???

Who are we recruiting and WHY???

PS - Jimbo isn't going anywhere.

He has a great young QB that got hurt the FIRST game of the year against Bama. If that kid stays healthy they have a GREAT year.

If there is even a serious sniff that Dana is leaving, Shane better offer him his left nut to stay. This deal is going in the right direction, despite the never satisfied, sky is falling, victim mentality, constantly menstuating, know it all, dimwit fanbase.

I can see Fisher bailing for AM, but only if they throw obscene money at him...which they have.

Yeah, our 3-3-5 is so great and difficult to prepare for that va tech beat us without ever seeing it and they had a freshman quarterback playing in his first game. Virginia tech is not a great football team. It's a **** defense that only works against inferior competition.

You make it sound like we got our ass kicked. We lost by 7. It was the first game of the season and we had opportunities to win that game. Considering it was the D first game without our 2016 starting 3 DL, starting 2 CB, and starting S from previous season and it took the entire first half for Will Grier to get going (reasonably so after sitting out almost 2 years) it's understandable that we didnt win. But you want to blame our defensive scheme? That's just not the right thinking.

Okay, what about losing to Oklahoma every year in Big 12 play? Only beating Kansas State twice? Losing to Kansas? Losing to any team with a pulse? Oklahoma scoring on 6 consecutive possessions? This defense is far worse than 2012, our 4-8 season, even worse that year in the bug east where we went 3-8 in 2001

I saw the 2012 defense against Oklahoma. That was the worst defense I think I have ever seen period. This year's performance against Oklahoma was similar

I’ve seen Dana, Spavital and I think Gibson’s names thrown around for HC jobs. This tells me we have a pretty good staff.

Blaming the defensive scheme, the same scheme that only WVU uses in the conference, for having one of the worst defenses in school history and in the conference is the wrong thinking. Kansas ran for over 300 yards. 1 win Baylor almost came back and beat us. Our best win of the last 2 years is against... Iowa state? Excellent. Let's keep the 3-3-5 because it's clearly effective when we play ECU and Delaware State.

What we need to do is find out who Alabama and Clemson and Oklahoma are recruiting and go talk them into playing for us.

I just read that ISU's head coach Matt Campbell has agreed to a 6-year deal worth $22.5 million.

Damn... add this to previous discussions re: TX upswing and future Baylor success... the B12 is going to be a very very tough conference in the coming years.

Many of those who constantly talk about holgerson leaving or wanting gibby fired are those that think steward was a great hire

I don't post here that often, but this one requires a quick comment.

The above is literally the stupidest thing I have read on this board in like 10 years. Literally the stupidest. Congratulations on this monumentally stupid post.

Alrighty I'd love to dive in on this.

2017 result vs Oklahoma: 59-31
-The Hard Truth: They were BETTER than us. As shocking as it may seem sometimes that happens. The best QB in the country behind the best OL in the country surprisingly does damage to even the good defenses. OU beat THE Ohio State in Columbus by 15 with Baker putting up almost 400 yds passing with 3 TDs. OU scored 62 points on Oklahoma State this year!!! Oklahoma State's offense could match them was the difference. Don't act like we were the only team they put up numbers against. Our defense wasn't that talented this year...accept it. And we were handicapped without Will Grier.

2016 result vs Oklahoma: 56-28
-We had 4 turnovers and they scored 21 points off of them. How can you possibly blame the defense?

2015 results vs Oklahoma: 44-24
-Same story. 5 turnovers with an awful Skyler Howard running QB.

Those are the only lopsided affairs we've had with Oklahoma. I could go on and on and on to defend the 3-3-5 but I'll sum it up as best as I can. The main reason we have some of these blowout losses is bc we lack the talent and depth. If you want to blame the recruiting that is much more fair of an argument than blaming our defensive scheme. You can revisit the highs of West Virginia football over the past 10 years and more than likely we were running the 3-3-5. But if you haven't paid attention to the past couple of recruiting classes then maybe you should. I think we're building something special for next season (and seasons to come).

And we just picked up a top target WR who committed to us over Michigan, Va Tech, Tennessee, etc. This will likely bump us to a top 15 class...which would be out best recruiting class ever.

Fire Dana!
