So, Bender still sucks in the worst way, please play Routt or Teddy Allen instead.

Konate has turned into a foul machine.

The team is coming along. Though Konate does some stupid fouling stuff sometimes.

Huggins is clearly trimming the rat's nest he has growing on his face, which means he's cultivating a new image. I think it's horribly misguided, and I think he should reconsider before we enter regular conference play.

I know it's just stats, and wins are what matters, but i turned the game on late, and dialed up the ESPN on the interweb to see who was doing what. I saw, first thing, that Konate already had 4 blocks. I literally sat and watched him block 3 more shots, definitively, and just saw somehow that he finished with only 5 blocked shots. This isn't the first time I've seen him get short changed. I mean, i know it's just an individual stat, but really... stats like Konate has, and really, stats like he should have according to my eyeballs, win awards. 5-7 blocks per game would likely get you on the All Big-12 Defense 1st team. That **** matters to recruits. It's something you can point to and waive the Blue and Gold Flag. Am I the only one that has noticed this? I don't deny that I might just be wrong.. It has happened. lol.

BTW, Carter was great (again) tonight. Teddy Allen is going to be a contributor. And I like Harris, I think he'll just get better as he gets more time in the system.

On the other hand, starting to worry that Konate is all potential. Need to start seeing some regular, steady production.

He can block shots, I'll give you that. Just like to see more rebounding and putbacks, and fewer fouls. And it seems like Huggins yells at him a lot.

Y'all wanna talk about "dumbass coaching decisions" like running Grier in the first quarter of a FB game...

Why are Carter and Miles playing when we're up almost 40 points at all??

Also, I really like Harris, Hunter and Allen... They're going to be good.

Regarding Sags... If the switch ever fully flips for him.... He'll be better than Alexander could have ever thought of being.

Watching Bender in High School and playing for the Polish National team, it seems that his problem is in his head, not his game. He actually seems to possess a nice soft outside shot and nice footwork and quick hands. It's just my opinion, but to me, it seems like he is playing timid. Watching his games, he may not be up to this big of a stage. yet. Huggs has said, he'll be ok, when he starts making shots. If so, and i have no reason to doubt that, why not force feed him when we're up by 25 or 30 to give him some confidence. Seems like a good idea. But in Huggs I trust. so idk.

I might just be that the WVU system doesn't fit Bender's game.

He would probably be better in a slow-down half-court-set low-post system.

Regarding Bender - European basketball is very different from American basketball and is taught in way from a very young age. Europeans are taught fundamental and skill development. Americans are taught to win. Go watch any local youth league and you'll see 80% of the teams run a box and 1 style offense giving their best player most of the shots. Or, they will make 1 or 2 passes before a shot is taken by their best player (I'm talking about 8th grade and younger). In Europe they are taught to pass, set screens, move without the ball, and you should never have to force a shot. European basketball is a different pace. I wish more youth leagues would teach this style.
With all of that said, it think Bender just needs time to transition. American basketball is just a different flow that what he is probably use to.

NJIT stat line for Bender:

10 Minutes, 0-1 FG, 0-0 FT, 0 Points, 0 Offensive Rebounds, 2 Defensive Rebounds, 2 Total Rebounds, 0 Assists, 0 Steals, 0 Blocks, 2 Turnovers, 2 Fouls

Anyone that watched the first couple minutes of that game saw Bender get outrebounded and turn the ball over multiple times
