Come on, you really don't believe the main reason they reinstituted Conference championship was for playoffs. I'll give you $30,0000,0000 reasons why they have it again.

Actually, in the first playoff (2014) TCU should have gotten in over Florida State, not Ohio State.

Everyone agreed that FSU was NOT one of the four best teams, and they should not have gotten in. But, because they didn't lose a game and they won their conference championship, the committee said they HAD to put them in over TCU. They rationalized it by saying TCU hadn't won the conference outright (co-champs). Baylor got discounted for their OOC schedule.

Which, as we all know, leaving TCU out was complete BS.

This travesty actually led to the current "rule" of putting in the four BEST teams.

Alabama should be thanking TCU for taking the screwing in 2014 that allowed Bama to get in this year.

PS - I still believe TCU would have won the WHOLE thing in 2014!

Yeah, with Patterson's coaching, that defense that smothered Mississippi, and their prolific offense putting up video game type numbers, I don't see anyone better that year.

Did you ever think you'd miss the BCS?

There was no way they were going to be able to keep FSU out of the playoff. I understand the 4 best and that they were not one of the four best....BUT....

FSU was the defending National Champion. They had no lost a game. How can one arbitrarily say that the reigning National Champion who hadn't lost any games isn't playoff worthy?

Any team that missed it this year with the exception of Georgia and Oklahoma has no one but themselves to blame. Win your games and you are in. FSU did all they could do in 2014. They won them all.

The BCS was pretty much useless...the current system is maybe one step better. But as long as there are FIVE power conferences and a FOUR team playoff -- ignorance and frustration will continue to be the inevitable champions.

I will only add that Ohio State lost to a mediocre VT team at home in 2014. I remember that FSU team being suspect but they didn't lose.
