The President’s party typically loses some seats in midterms. How bad will it be for Trumplethinskin?

Looks like a Congressional seat just flipped in a special election in PA. Seems like a lot of money to spend on a seat that will no longer exist in November.

One for the good guys!

GOP has to find better candidates. Simply put. All they had to do was find somebody who was even somewhat pro-union and he would have won by how bad Trump beat Hillary or worse. But they go out and find a boring anti-union old guy and run him against a lively "trump policy" democrat and they lost. And now he will flip back to uber progressive. As he did in his speech. (Is the election actually over yet? Last I heard they were still counting the write ins.) Smart move by the dems on this special election and a very bad move on candidacy by the reps.

Agree with all the above.

The state hasn’t called it yet but seems like most of the links I can find have declared a winner. Would be funny to see it go the other way just for the fake news tweets!

As to the Democrat candidate, lots of folks say he has Trump/conservative views. I have no problem with that. Maybe step one on the way to getting moderates on both sides back in the majority.

In my opinion the better man won in that race.

This site says “it’s official”...not saying that’s true.

The only recount news I could find was that Saccone Asked precincts to keep ballots in case of a recount.

So I guess there is no automatic recount but Saccone could be preparing to file a court case to force one.

Didn’t realize that Trump pushed for Saccone so hard. Two personal visits, Pence went too as well as Donnie half-scoop and Ivanka. Rumors are that the steel & aluminum tariffs were to help swing this election.

In a district that Trump won by 20 points that’s a pretty big rejection. A NC GOP email says the results of this election make them fear for their own state midterms. Link

Its just because he is anti-union. That is how bad of a candidate Saccone is for that area they had to push him that much and still lost (as far as we know of). It was like weekend at bernies. Saccone had to be propped up by the president just to get votes. I don't think it was the area rejecting Trump policies because that is somewhat on what the dem candidate ran on, but more or less that Saccone was anti-union in a pro-union area. Could be wrong, I hope I'm not.

My understanding is that all the absentee ballots have to be counted by midnight Tuesday (tonight). That might be a factor.

That would be good money after bad, and with the amount that the RNC dumped into this race I am thinking they would cut their losses. That's an expensive lawsuit.

On a lighter note, I am impressed that I have yet to hear the usual cries of voter fraud.

Well actually there have been reportings on vote switching and other voters being turned away because they were in the wrong district. I dont know if there is any validity. Just saw it on Twitter of election.

And the GOP HAD to spend that much money on their boring ass old candidate who goes against the entire district. The GOP is very stupid sometimes.

So we should have an actual declared winner by tonight?

In other news, since the devilcrat will probably win, there won't be complaints about voter id issues. See - The stupid $hit surfaces either way.

Agreed. I agree those things possibly do go on, but the accusations should not be made without proof.

Ehh pretty much all of the “Republicans” that are dropping out are establishment cronies. It’s actually a good thing for the party long term. Wish we would see some of the same thing going on in the Democrat Party. Beats waiting for people to wither away.

Some of the more "conservative" republicans need to STOP ranting about defunding planned parenthood.

No one cares.

Except for the 10% on the far right.

Didn't they see what happened to Carly Fiorino in the primary? As soon as she went on her "defund planned parenthood" rant she dropped like a lead balloon.

...and from my side they can quit with the gun-grabbing crap and take a moderate approach that doesn’t automatically get rejected by the other side.

There is room for moderates on both sides.
