Imagine if we press as good as the previous years AND we are able to shoot. We will be hard to stop.

Dammit, I'm not sure the last time I was this excited for basketball AND football in the same year. Gentlemen, it will be a historic year. Of course this also sets me up for the traditional WVU let down, but for now I am pumped.

Yep.

Besides Konate, who's a potential 1st rounder? Are you looking at the article that has West ahead of Konate for next year, or the unfulfilled potential of Ahmad? Either way, I think you're a little deep into the kool-aid at this point.

That said, I think we've got a shot as a TEAM of being really good next year, provided, as you said, we get good guard play.

Yeah, your prob. right, need to pump the brakes a little here. No way to know how guard play will be at this point. Could be really good or not.

West never plays in the NBA. Definitely not a 1st rounder he can't handle the ball at all. Ok at defense, he is not overly athletic, not a great shooter. Maybe I am crazy but I am just not seeing it.

A couple lucky breaks in B-ball and team could win a National title. Cant think of anytime ever, where we had two potential number 1st rounders and maybe a second rounder on the team. I don't see any weakness on team, except maybe guard experience. Obviously losing JC is huge.

If the new guards perform well, the sky's the limit. Last year's team was ranked 2nd at one point and, if it weren't for their propensity to blow double-digit leads, they'd have had a very high ranking before the tournament.

This year's team should have significant improvements in several places over last year's. If Konate improves half as much as he did between freshman and sophomore year, he'll be great. One or two of the new guys could be very good. There will be a lot more depth -- no playing two guys 35+ minutes. More length. But, as you said,

I'd have to agree with your assessment.

I agree the guard play will be significant. That said, though, Culver is #61 on the ESPN 100 and 6'10". If he's as good as advertised, and we have an inside game (who was the last true offensive low post threat we had?), it takes some of the pressure off the young guards.

look, i will be as happy as the next mountaineer if this site:
http://www.nbadraft.net/2019mock_draft
is remotely right.. i mean, i fully understand that Lamont West can be an explosive shooter, and consistant, when his wrist is good to go. last year was an abberation, and he still had some massive games, with some massive shots made. still, it was obvious that he wasnt right.. So it makes me wonder just how in the hell they have Lamont West being picked 15th, as a pure six eight shooting phenom at the four. and have Sags as being picked 18th.. and esa not even listed.. my opinion is that if Lamont hits shots like he did as a freshman, gains some muscle, and picks up his defense, he could be a late second rounder, but he will test the waters, and be back, even if he does all of that. Esa literally, when he wants and is engaged, can dominate games.. there was a reason that even with the EXCELLENT class we have this year, Esa was rated higher out of HS than any of the four star guys we have coming in... Esa's attitude, will to win, and ability to stay healthy and eligible, are the absolute key to a NC for WVU. Sags coming back is great.. More than most realize.. that puts him at center, with a three inch taller and just as atheletic shot blocker with exceptional timing, like Sags displays, to back him up.. freeing Culver to move to the four, and he can shoot the three. again, letting lamont move back to his natural three position, and having Jordan McCabe backing up Knapper at PG, and letting doomes move to the atheletic sg or even at six three, a small ball small forward. the real wild cards, that will determine if we are a top 25 team again, or a top ten team will be the play of emmitt matthews, the education of Andrew Gordon, the durability and conditioning of McCabe and a out of game shape Knapper, the ability of the former five star six seven Point guard from Odessa JC, who was a POINT GUARD, and national defensive juco player of the year. and lastly, the growth of Sags, both in his physical game, and mental makeup. this is BY FUCKING FAR the most intruiguing and terrifiying to other teams, WVU squad that i can EVER remember being this excited over, possibly with the exception of the potential of the pre crash Lawrence Pollard, and blue chip Kirkaldy team that Catletts refusal to play freshman fucked up... talent is EVERYWHERE on this team, all the way to walk ons.. with Routt and Traevon. this is the deepest, and most talented team i think WVU may ever have fielded... idgaf what anyone else thinks.. we should have adapted some to keep Teddy.. the kid was the ONLY player on that whole team that refused to stand around when our double digit leads started falling apart.. but we now have a team to be reckoned with... the biggest worry is that Beetle will be forced to run the point..

If West could borrow 10% of Sags' passion it would put him over the top.

Too late. You already said it.

Hire Fuggins!

Being a football fanatic, I never thought I'd be more excited for the basketball season to begin than the football season, but now I'm really on the fence.

In hoops, we have real potential to win National title.
In football, we have real potential to win Big 12.

Will there be a let down when we dont, probably.

Anyone have any good news on Knapper? Saw online where he has some blood clots and won't be able to play this summer in games. just seeing if anyone has anymore info than that and if its a serious issue.
